Rose, I haven't been able to pull up the belief inventory on the sight either, figured I wasn't far enough along!  I just have some things going on Rose, but it takes so much out of me to type it and it would be rather lengthy and it just drags me down further, so I'll just keep hanging on to it, until I get the strength.  In the meantime, I keep changing the channels in my brain, to think of something more positive and take inventory of those things I have to be grateful for.  Some of the other things on the belief inventory he gave me are
1.  It is important to me that others approve of me.
2.  I hate to fail at anything.
3.  People who do wrong deserve what they get.
4.  If a person wants to, he/she can be happy under almost any circumstance.
5. I usually put off important decisions.
6.  Everyone needs someone he/she can depend on for help and advice.
7.  I avoid things I cannot do well.
8.  Frustrations don't upset me.
9.  People are disturbed not by situations but by the view they take of them.
10.  Just because something once strongly affects your life, doesn't mean it needs to do so in the future.
 
Again, there are 100 on here. It's not feasible to type them all.  I randomly selected these.  
 
To help you out a bit with your strengths: you are knowledgeable, have a great wit, hilarious at times, funny at others, well-spoken, inquisitive, determined,  motivated to get better, a good cook (not a necessity they do make restaurants and prefab dinners), helpful, considerate, call them as you see them (an admirable trait in my opinion).... I'm sure your psychologist won't mind someone who has observed your strengths adding to your list!  As I notice more in your posts, I'll try to jot them down and type them to you!  Oh, you are encouraging and thanks for the encouragement!

sarah, are you talking about the core belief survey? when i try to pull it up, it's blank, just a frame. where is this inventory?
goofy, hi! bring on the issues! what are waiting for, christmas?  i hope that these forums get more personal - what's the harm in saying it like it is here? i hope none. we're here to help each other, whether it really helps or not is up in the air. my negative core beliefs (i think): i'm not good enough, i don't do enough, i should have been able to do more, i can't cope with stress, i'm flawed, i've made too many mistakes, indecisive, wishy-washy, crybaby. there's more, but one of my "assignments" from psychologist at last meeting was to name my strengths......i couldn't come up with any! is being a good cook a strength or a necessity? there it is - my prime negative core belief - i either have no strengths or don't know what the term means? halp

Glad to hear your session with your therapist went well. Also, it is good to hear that you were able to learn a few things about yourself from completing this inventory.

I was given a Belief System Inventory by my therapist last time I went.  I had to mark either I agreed with the belief or disagreed with the belief....there was no "eh, sometimes".  I always thought I saw things either in black or white.  I had difficulty seeing gray shaded areas.  Well, I guess I was right in that I do have difficulty seeing, that I see gray shaded areas.  It was a list of 100 beliefs that a person can have i.e. I believe it's important for all people to like me,  I believe everyone can change, It is impossible to overcome the influence of the past, etc.  I think this helped me see some belief systems (negative core beliefs) that I need to work on. And as I have said it also helped me to see that I don't see things as black and white as I had originally thought.  I could identify some negative core beliefs that I have, but knew there had to be more that I was not able to put a finger on.  I know this list is not totally inclusive either but it has widened my list of negative core beliefs to work on.  One point of the exercise was to see how I didn't think as much in black or white as I thought.  We discussed it today when I returned along with a whole other host of issues I've been dealing with, but can't seem to get out in this format (yet).  Just thought I'd get some feedback on this.....thanks y'all!
