Members,

In terms of medications, it is best that you always consult your physician in order to discuss what options are best for you.

Hi i have been on dropaxin (paroxetine solution in italy) for 8 months. Now i began to scale down. The first weeks i had some side effects especially trouble sleeping. But if you doctor helps you to go gradually to the full dose it should be ok.
It took me 2 months to go on 20 mg paroxetine and will take 2 months to to get out of it. The only side effect that i had for the entire period was the bleeding... for every little scratch or wound i bleed a lot... I'love montaines so scratches and bruises... and this was a problem i had to carry always something to stop the bleeding and to clean the scratches.

Hi Jane, I have nothing but good experiences on Paxil. I have been on and off it for several years and have suffered no major side effects. I started taking it again 2 weeks ago and within a week I started feeling so much better. I suffer from anxiety and OCD as well as a little depression. I suppose everyone responds differently, but the only side effect I could complain about is the blurry eyes (at times). I also suffered no withdrawal symptoms and all in all it is so worth it considering how much better I feel

Jane, It will vary from person to person but generally it will take a few weeks 4-6 before SSRI' take full effect. Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

Hi Jane, I also do not post too much, as I also do not know where to begin with what I want to say... whatever .. I am a kind of expert on Paxil.. well, I have been taking it for a bit more than a year. Yes, your other doctor was right, it takes at least 2 weeks to feel any differences. In my case it took actually 3 weeks, but then, like a miracle, everything looked brighter, sensible and clear and I felt somehow being "normal" only after 3 weeks - however, this can be differ from person to person... After some weeks/months nobody could have said about me I had depression! Unfortunately, it also had disadvantages, I also gained on weight - 12 kgs. In general, it takes 2-3 weeks when an SSRI shows signs of efficacy - I have learned a lot about SSRIs and SNRIs and any other types of the dep meds during the time I was taking Paxil. Let me know, if you have any other questions, maybe I can say something about my experiences you are interested in. take care

Hi. I am new to the group. I have never posted and feel a bit odd doing so as I really don't know what to say or how I fit in. Having said that, I do have a question I was wondering if anyone could answer for me. I recently started taking Paxil and was told by my Dr that it would kick in in 2-3 days. I had been on Zoloft about 10 years ago and remember them telling me at that time it took a couple weeks to feel any effects from the drug. Also, when I filled the prescription, the pharmacist mentioned it would take about two weeks to start working. However, when I told him what the Dr said, he just back pedeled and said, "Oh, well, listen to your doctor, he probably knows more about it than I do." Anyway, that was all kind of a side note but to try to get a clear answer on the subject I googled "Paxil" today and got pages upon pages of results regarding lawsuits. Does anyone have experience with Paxil (or SSRIs in general) that would be willing to share? Thanks! Jane
