Hi Ellie, my experience with St Johns Wort was that it did not work for me. Since then my reading indicates that it sort of maybe works for "mild" depression. I would encourage you to see a doctor and/or qualified naturapath. You deserve a proper diagnosis and correct medications - at the very least. wishing you serenity "rosethorn"

Ellie, Welcome to the Depression Center and thanks for sharing your story. Please start working through our CBT program. It is located in your session diary. It will teach you about depression and its effects on you. It will also get you started on goal-setting. Our forums are also a great ressource. They are filled with experiences you can learn from. Lastly, we have a sister site that may be helpful to you: www.paniccenter.net If you have any questions, just ask. We are always here to help. Danielle _________________________ The DC Support Team

I'm 39, in a very unhappy marriage and have an 18 year old son. My depression and anxiety started 2 years ago. My husband left me, I lost my job, had major financial difficultes and a hysterectomy, all within 2 weeks. It was a big blow. Panic attacks started, I began drinking...and now, 2 years on, I'm pretty much housebound and shutting myself off from the world. Even though my husband returned, there is no love or support. I did work for a little bit and thought I was recovering, but have recently handed in my notice due to my fear of panic attacks. Sometimes I feel I'll never get better. I'm not on any medication other than herbal (St Johns Wort.) I just want to be the person I was.
