Hi Mina, I understand exactly what you are experiencing. You are courageous to take the first step and ask for help. You should remember that you have not done anything wrong or done anything to cause your depression. Depression is a disease like any other and with the proper help you can defeat it. Sometimes it takes a few tries to find the right therapist, someone you click with and feel comfortable talking to. I went to 2 different therapists before finding the right one. You will be surprised at how much you can learn about yourself and the depression by talking to an objective third party. I wish you all the best and a speedy recovery. :)

Hi Mina, I know it is difficult admitting you may have depression. And yes, there will always be people who think you should just snap out of it. But your true friends will stick by you. I know you're afraid to reveal your secret thoughts to a therapist, and it may take a little time, but believe me, it's so liberating. Here's a person that will listen to you and not judge you or make you feel embarrassed. In fact, if you do feel that way, you may not be with the right therapist. In my own experience, I've been able to unload so many thoughts that I've had most of my life, and I felt so free and safe after doing that. Take advantage of the professional help, including medications if necessary. Best of luck to you!

Good Evening Mina, You have come to the right place! Please feel free to roam the site at your own pace. If you look to the left of the screen under "TOOLS" you will find our Depression Test. This test is not a diagnostic tool and is not a replacement or substitute for a physician's advice. The purpose of these tests is to prepare you with information that you can present to your physician. When you're finished the test, you can either print your Final Report or email it directly to your doctor. If you have any question or concerns with our site or please contact Susanne or I at support@depressioncenter.net. We are the Support Specialist for The Depression Center and are open to any questions or concerns you may have. Looking forward to hearing from you soon! Melanie

Text Hi. I am new to this forum and it has taken me a long time to realise that maybe I had a problem with depression (if that is what it is) and that I was not just moody and down in the dumps all the time. I have made an appointment to see a therapist tomorrow, but I am not sure I am going to be able to sit in front of a total stranger and tell them my darkest fears. I know I have to for my sake and for my husband who has put up with so much from me in the years we have been together, but I am so scared and feel such a failure as a person that I need to get help. I know this is probably stupid but some people expect that I will just snap out of the way I am feeling and get on with it, and I feel so frustrated with myself that I can't do this and like I have let myself and my family down.
