Dear Steve, I have never heard anyone who has almost exactly my same symtoms. I have not been in a motercycle accident but I obsess the same way you do. I have suffered for about 10 years now. I am taking Effexor and it seems to take the edge off. Please feel free to write so we can talk further Stephani

Hi, Steve. Sorry to learn about your accident. Feigning symptoms to get medication prescribed is a dangerous thing to do when the medication is not needed. Have you visited our sister site, The Panic Center? (See Outside Resources) That site addresses fears and offers a free program to help you deal with them.

I'm a 33 year old male that had a life threatening experience (Motorcycle accident)about 7 years ago. The experience has left me scared with the constant thoughts of death mostly by disease. I convince myself that I have a deadly disease or cancer when my body doesn't feel perfect. I find symptoms to support my diagnosis. I can make doctors prescribe medication by telling them the symptoms that I've already researched. I can also just by thinking about it make myself feel bad. I'm on Effxor 150mg time released. I'm tired. This is a lonely problem because it all goes on inside my head and I can't stop it.
