Dear Ann,
Well done for sharing your thoughts, I really appreciate that. I suffer with Bi-polar disorder among other things! It sometimes gets too hard, but you should think of a dream, anything, and when you get sad just think how determined you are to achieve that dream, I know you're strong, hang in there, and if ya need to talk anytime, I'll try to help you the best that I can Regards

Hi Ann, I know exactly what you're going thru. I've been depressed since I can remember, and I know all about the negative thoughts. I've been seeing a therapist 2x per week since January and she's trying the same stuff. I can't get it. I think the negative is way too strong still. Some people say you have to want to get better. It's easier said than done when you wake up in the morning having a feeling of sadness, anxiety and what next? So far, I haven't found a solution, but as soon as I do, I'll let you know.
take care, people love you and care about you (that's a quote from someone in my life although i read the words, i can't hear them right now, but i've been told one day i will hear it and believe it)

Thanks, Anne Marie. No, I haven't been keeping a journal. That's probably a good idea. I've actually not been doing the cognitive stuff lately. Need to get back in the habit.Text Thanks for the in-put!

Hi all,
I've had depression for about as long as I can remember and have some anxiety problems too. Lately my therapist and I have been trying to use cognitive techniques. I've been listing problems, what my automatic thoughts are about the problem and then trying to come up with more rational responses to my automatic (negative!) thoughts. I know this is supposed to be very effective with depression, but I'm finding it discouraging, as the negative thoughts seem to be sooooo much more powerful than the "rational" ones. Anyway, just wondered if anyone had tried this with any success. What I really want to do is sleep!!
Ann :confuse:
