Hi Dilshad,

I had heard many individuals say marijuana helps their anxiety this can be very different depending on the individual. If you have psychosis in your family history at all I would avoid taking marijuana as marijuana can trigger psychosis. Also, if you are below the age of 25 I would also avoid marijuana as studies have shown us that marijuana use at a young age can negatively impact brain function, this has not been shown to occur to the same extent in adults.

Research shows us that marijuana can actually exacerbate anxiety and mood disorders in the long run. Sativa strains are apparently the most problematic when it comes to anxiety symptoms. My concern is mixing marijuana with another medication. Both Benzodiazepines and marijuana have sedative effects so taking both at once could cause unwanted side effects. I recommend speaking to your doctor about marijuana. They would have more information on this and will be able to guide you effectively. Also, if you decide marijuana is right for you be sure to only purchase from a dispensary as street drugs are never advised.

Thanks for posting!

I've been suffering severe anxiety for almost a year now and been given a prescription for Benzodiazepines for my medication. But i heard alot of people telling me that marijuana helps relieve anxiety but im not im not sure if its true so i came up to search something about this idea and came across this marijuana strain from https://www.bonzaseeds.com/blog/cat-piss/ it says that i can discard all forms of stress and its euphoric buzz it delivers often is useful in combating anxiety and depression. I wanted to hear your thoughts about this guys and if you can give me any tips that can help me with my anxieties. Thank you!

Hi star,

It is scary to have this happen and not know what to do. The info. On this site can help you a lot. It does not sound like your friends' initial reaction s are helpful. Sometimes people mean well but are not informed enough to say something that actually helps. I have seen websites that have tips for people whose friend has anviety. These tips might be helpful if you have any friends who want to help but don't know how. They can learn what to say to you to be supportive.

The important thing is to post your questions here. People will answer and share their thought s and ideas.

Hi Star,

I responded to you in another thread but I also wanted to say that you are not alone in this. Panic is a very common disorder and it is very treatable. If you work on the program you can and will see results.

It can be frustrating to talk with others about anxiety disorders as people who have not experienced it really don't know how to relate. Try not to take it personal and remind yourself that they just don't understand. Also, remind yourself that you are not your anxiety.

Have you started the program? Any questions so far?

Remember to take your time with it, do your program and post often.

Hi Star,
I wish I could have responded sooner to the support here, when I was struggling at work.  I can only speak for myself, but it took well over a year for me to get over my fears, and start posting.  Unfortunatately, or maybe it was better for me, but I left work.

It may be that others are going through things that make it hard, or untimely to respond.  Sometimes, what someone is saying just doesn't resonate with too

Hello Star8988,

Welcome to the program and forum..I left you a message in response to your post under the thread title "New here but not new to Panic/Anxiety"
You can look for it there. I saw no reason to post it in both places. I read your post there before I saw this one. Any way
I hope it helps you in some way..There are many reading here. I just think some are not comfortable posting here on the internet yet..The long time members and Educators should be along shortly..Hang in there it gets better..

I recently started a new semester at school. I know that school causes me a lot of anxiety but when school started I began to feel off. I started to feel threatened and began to panic and become anxious. So I began to stop talking to people and my friends. When my friends try and talk to me I get scared and feel caged in like I can't get away. So I push them further and further away. I don't like to be alone but I also feel safe when I am alone. I have tried to talk about the way I feel and then I start having people attack me about how I'm giving up in life and that I can get over this. So i get more anxious and I begin to panic more. So now I have isolated myself. I hardly talk in school. I have pushed my friends away because I am afraid of them. I feel so alone and stuck... I am constantly worrying and when my phone goes off I wont answer. I find myself looking through my phone wanting to ask for help but to afraid to talk. I'm not sure why this is happening or what to do. Am I now becoming agoraphobic?
