Safe Harbours

Cardio Tech...I have a 10 gallon tank. Actually it only takes me about 10 minutes to change out 30 percent of the tanks water once a week and that's about it. I use a powerhead pump to move the water from my 5 gallon bucket back into the tank when I fill the tank back up so there is no need to lift heavy buckets. So actually there is very little time involved considering all enjoyment I am getting out of it. Who knows being that you enjoyed have a aquarium before you just might enjoy it again.

Thanks Ashley:) I am really enjoying it. It is so nice to have something positive and pretty to focus on every day and the little fish all have the own unique personalities. Kind of like us humans. The Betta is a happy little guy, a bit of a loner by nature, who needs his space but can get along just fine with others as long as they are not too pushy. Kind of like me I guess and that's OK. There's nothing wrong with being a little different. I am learning a lot and enjoying this at the same time. I think we all need something positive and relaxing to do that we enjoy. A little distraction from the chatter that goes on within us. A way to step outside of ourselves and relax for a little while each day. Talk to you again soon..Red:)

I had an aquarium for a few years....and it was great.  I found it very relaxing and soothing to watch the fish swim about and hear the bubbling of the water.  It was quite a bit of work though....

Lovely Red! I love aquariums myself. They can be very relaxing; and a creative outlet too! Enjoy

I started up a new relaxing hobby this week. Aquarium keeping. This allows me to create a peaceful place to escape to in my mind eye. My safe little harbor for now. I Love my 1 Betta fish, my 6 White Cloud Mountain minnows and my little oto too. Not to mention the beautiful aquascaping even if they are artificial plants and of course my little Balinese lantern inside. If all goes well I may start up a nano scape next. Something to look forward to...

My poor roses died.

If distractions work for you then the coping technique "stacking" would too.  It is on here twice, if you can't find it, I'll post it again but it is rather long.

My first mode of calming myself..if I'm at home..is to clean my bathrooms. If I'm not at home I try to focus on something..anything..whether it be the floor..something on my phone...people watch from a non-busy area. I try to focus on everything except my physical symptoms of anxiety. Doesn't always work, but most of the time it helps.

As I look out my window I notice the majestic mountains and the towering trees and it is easy to forget they share this picture with other plants and little animals that make there beauty and function what it is. It is too late for me to be a towering douglas fir so I will be a wild rose in the shadow of the tree with the birds and butterflies living in my own world bringing beauty and substance to those around me. (living and loving)
Is this a safe harbour? Probably.

One day not too long ago I saw a sleek mink under the trees just doing it's thing and I thought that is me alive and unnoticed yet still a part.

I hope my roses survive the winter.

Some times we make choices because they are safe and regret it after. But does it really matter. Some times we do not become all we wanted to be, because of this condition we have. Some times we regret not becoming all we could have been if we could have. Panic and anxiety disorders rob us of a lot of what life has to offer. Some times it is better to sit in the harbour than face the storm. Sometimes it isn't. The choice is ours. I just want to say that I think there is no wrong choice. It took a lot of courage to become where we are and we should not regret it. Only a few will understand the struggle and the accomplishment. If you think that accomplishment was small remember some never manage and some never have to. The important thing is that if you like who you are and what you are that is all that matters. You can enjoy the storm from your safe harbour, you don't have to ride it out just because others are. They are not you. Some times when life gets hard I wonder if the struggle is worth it. But it is isn't it. One good moment in a life of hell means there can be more. Life can be all you want if all you want is what life is.
I'm working too hard and thinking too much. Time to smell the roses and I have some lovely roses.

Davit.
