Hi Hugs,
No these are not for appointments with specialists only. This is the way it is for all care at the va be it primary care or specialists. You can check it out online on Fox News Phoenix which is where the news coverage originated from if you are interested in knowing more..This was a issue when my late husband was sick and he was receiving care at the v.a.in California. It took 6 months to get appointments and follow up appointment were 6 months a part too. This is not a new issue it has been going on across the country for years if not decades..I could tell you more but fear I will loose my benefits if I speak out on these issues. There is lots of info about it online I am sure. The sad thing is that the veterans and there families are forced to suffer in silence for fear of retaliation..

One thing I can say is that the care that I have personally received at clinics and hospitals outside of the va health care system is not any better. The whole healthcare system in the u.s. has major problems in my oppinion and this oppinion is based on my personal experience only..I understand others may have had good experiences or maybe they have never had a serious illness yet or even worse ever had to stay in the hospital recently..

Those are the lucky ones..

Hi Red, I don't understand why it takes so long to see a doctor? Are they talking about specialists? Journalism is often gossip, but sometimes the news is noteworthy, as you said!

Hi Davit, Not watching the Gulf war, when I gave up tv years ago, left my mind refreshed, like never before, so I see your lack of interest in tv.

With so much already happening in my life I just can't find any interest in current events. I know when I was in the hospital the TV was more annoying than entertainment. I don't honestly miss it or what is happening out side my own area. As for movies, I prefer them without commercials.
I bet none of you with TV's can shut them off for a week. I know when I owned one I couldn't. It is more demanding than the internet.
So I guess that leaves me out.

I thought this might a place where like-minded people might share news events. What struck me as hilarious, following the Cnn news coverage of the basketball owner's being blacklisting, was a remark by a former attorney who defended the owner's girlfriend. She stated that the woman who taped the bigoted team owner, who was 50 years junior to the wealthy businessman, did the "...country a service..." by exposing him. The host, Anderson Cooper, repeated the remark twice in disbelief!
