Hi Red, Caregiving will continue, but as will renovations. This reno seems timely, so it's best not to delay any further, as challenging as it might be. Once it's begun, it will be a relief, and there are other things to follow, which I need to address soon. Older homes can be "money traps"...

Hi Hugs, I can sure relate to feeling a bit overwhelmed with your mom's health and the thoughts of doing planning renovation too at the same time.  Being a caregiver was the biggest challenge I have ever had in my life, with lots of anxiety, worry and responsibility on my shoulders. It did leave me depleted for a long while. The renovation came about 2 years later and I have to say it was a overwhelming task too..
Appreciating those who remain and enjoying the time we have with them is a very important time in our lives that we want to and need to hold on to for a long as we can..

Maybe the renovation can wait until later if possible, when you have more time on your hands. Do you think you could put some of it on the back burner for now? and just concentrate on fixing the things that have to be repaired for the time being?  Especially if you are feeling depleted right now..

Keeping up your strength and getting enough sleep is really important, especially now..

You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

p.s. By the way Edd ordered a 7000 watt generator online today and it is on its way..
One less thing to worry about.

Take my friend..

Hi Red, Thanks for the reassurance. I'm trying to juggle mom's health and slowly getting a renovation estimate. I'm afraid I'm a bit overwhelmed, and depleted after a cold winter. Sometimes I wonder if I'm getting anything done. A neighbour passed away, so I've felt some sadness too, and appreciation for those who remain...mom especially.

Hi Hugs!....Thanks for showing your concern...

It's the wee hours of the morning here and all is quiet and cool. The temps are suppose to start coming down a little each day and should be in the high seventies by this coming Tuesday.

Speaking of a plan, we have a simple plan if things get unsafe this summer due to a wild fire..We keep all our important documents in fire safes so if we have to leave in hurry all we have to do is load them in the cars and leave, then hold up in a hotel or our travel trailer until it is safe to go home. Edd is also concerned that we may have power outs this summer due to the extreme heat so he is looking into buying a generator that will run the whole house and the air conditioner. He has wanted to get on for a long time. We also store canned goods and dried beans in case of a emergency and have one 55 and one 35 gallon drum that we keep filled with water and store in our truck in case of a water shortage.

So not to worry. We have a plan in place..
By the way how are things in your neck of the woods?
Hope all is well.

Red, Glad to hear you're safe and cool. Hopefully you've made plans in case it becomes unsafe. David sounds really cool, maybe too much for most.

The temps and winds are down a little here today. It's 101 degrees in the shade this afternoon.
I have spent most of the day relaxing indoors today with the air conditioner running..

Today has been a Good day..

In the news..In my neck of the woods..
Not reality TV..but a real life reality..

We have been having wild fires for the last few days in Southern California. So far 10,000 acres have burned and 20 homes have been destroyed..Thousands of people have been evacuated from their homes. We have been glued to the news updates and have been trapped indoors due to the high temperatures and smoke outdoors..Hopefully Tomorrow the temps will be out of the double triple digits and the Santa Ana Winds will die down..
.
The FireFighters, Cal fire,  police and sheriff depts plus the Military are hoping to get this fire storm under control soon..We are in a  extreme drought situation and have been in a severe drought for several years now, so the officials have advised us that the is going to been a long hot dry fire season and summer. They say our fire season never ended last year..it has been continuous.

Anyway we are exercising extreme caution and are conserving as much water as possible this year..
We are staying indoors most of the day for now except for the wee hours in the morning than back into the house where it is cool. We are trying to keep ourselves busy with indoor activities right now and praying that the fires don't burn down our house this summer..

That's the News in my neck of the woods for now..
