Sleep Patterns

Thanks for reminding me, Ashley! I'll leave a pen a paper beside my bed, so that if something is bothering me, I've jotted it down, and deal with the stuff in the morning. Progressive relaxation is good, and getting to bed earlier than usual, so I can practise good sleep hygiene. I also have reminder as an alarm, to get to bed, on my watch, so I begin the routine.

Thanks Ashley,

For me what works best is avoiding heavy emotional conversations in the late afternoon and allowing myself time to unwind in the evenings. Another is getting off the computer by 6 p.m. that way I can let my mind relax before going to bed..

Ginger mint tea and calcium works very well for me. Lemon Balm tea if it is very bad. Growing Valerian to add to the possibilities. I have grown German Camomile in the past.

Glad to hear you got a good  sleep Red. Sleep is so important

Sleep can be disrupted greatly by panic and anxiety. What strategies does everyone use when they have trouble sleeping due to anxiety?

Thanks for the info Davit. I have clay soil but grow my vegetables and citrus trees in a raised bed which drains well but drys out fast. I amend the soil with bags of Kellogg's garden and vegetable mix at a ratio of about 50/50 of bagged soil to garden soil..It work pretty good. I put wood chips on the rose beds to help retain moisture and keep the weeds down...That's about it..

Not to change the subject but I learned a lesson today while relaxing and fixing lunch don't get the oil to hot when frying corn tortilla strips or you can get burned if the oil pops..

Ouch that hurt!:((

I will be resting this afternoon and tending to the burns I got on my face and arms when the oil popped..I just wanted some crispy tortilla strips for my salad. Better to buy them ready maid at the store from now on instead...

I won't let this get me down. I will relax and read or something else indoors the rest of the afternoon..

My soil is quite sandy silty so organic material breaks down and disappears fast. Also the water just drains away. Peat holds the water better and breaks down to feed the plants. If you use peat, an inch a year on the beds is enough usually but you should get a soil test kit or a PH test kit so the soil doesn't get too acid. Add bone meal or dolomite lime if it does.
Besides it looks good.

Going to town for fittings. Changing the position of the pump and pressure tank while I have it apart. It will be better this way.

Good Morning! Davit..

Glad your having a nice day in your neck of the woods as they say. I noticed my BP is lower if I wait to take it too.
Like after vacuuming today. I took it after right after vacuuming the house then waited and took it 2 more times, at least 2 minutes apart and got a average of 122/76 with a heart rate of 88,  it's probably even lower now that I am relaxed and posting here..Reducing the stress in my life is the best thing I have ever done for myself..

Was started feeling hungry again so I just checked my blood glucose and it's 90 so it must be time to eat again.
So I guess it's time to go for now and fix myself a little lunch..

Sending positive vibes your way today that you will get the pump fixed right away.
Have a beautiful day my friend.:))

PS. One question about the peat moss your are spreading on your flower bed..What does the peat moss do for the beds?  Maybe I should starting putting peat moss on my beds too..

Blood pressure is usually higher in the morning and I suppose it could be for the same reason, the liver pumping out Glycogens to get a person up and at it. Any way for this reason I don't check it first thing in the morning but wait a bit.

Diet has allowed me to cut my medication way back.

Red I'm glad you are doing well and despite the fact we still have snow on half the ground it is going to be a nice day.

I want to hurry up and fix the leak in my pump so I can spend the day outside. Two perennials to move if the ground is thawed enough this morning and peat moss to spread on the flower beds. Supposed to be raining today but isn't.

Davit

Ps, I do not do well on less than 8 hours sleep but can manage two days on 5 before I hit the wall. I wonder what others here need, including the moderators.

Got 9 hours of restful sleep last night and only woke up once. This is one of my favorite ways to relax and rejuvenate.

I woke up and got a glass of orange juice, than right back to sleep again. Diabetics are subject to what they call predawn phenomena which is where your liver pumps out glucose into your blood stream in the wee hours just before dawn because you haven't eaten in few hours. The theory is if you have a little protein and a small amount of carbs before bed you can possibly stop the phenomena from happening. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't so I take the medication metformin for it.  I got so busy yesterday that I forgot to take all my medicine that stops this from happening.  I have found that if I take a glass of juice to bed with me at night I can take a few sips and go right back to sleep if I wake up.

I am feeling rejuvenated this morning after a good night sleep. Today is going to be a good day..
