Davit has given good piece of information on Brahmi & Valerian root. One thing I want to add that as far as I know there are no known side effects of Brahmi. But certainly these medicines takes a considerable time before showing up any positive results.
Actually anxiety is not like fever or headache.Take a pill & you will be okay.I am taking actions in different areas to make strengthen myself.I have developed an aim to reduce my anxiety at a certain level & to a level there is success. Brahmi is only a single part of that act.
I hope to find more positive results so that I can share.

I haven't talked to my Therapist yet or my informed Doctor but from the reviews I would say yes if they are accurate. You have to understand that these are two different products with two different actions.
Brahmi is supposed to increase your cognitive ability by growing more receptors, I think it just makes the ones there more available. Increased memory gives you more intelligence and a better ability to understand. The hazard would be that if you are very negative you might become more so. But if you are positive you would in theory be able to load up more positives in memory and be able to access more of them. You would be able to use more than the negatives anxiety is choosing now.
Valerian root is the opposite. it reduces the flow of information to the brain and calms you so you have less access to memory and less chance of accessing negatives so you have a better atmosphere to think positives. The side effect of Valerian is that it makes you sleepy.
Neither one will do anything without you doing some form of thought restructuring As in CBT as in the best access is still this program. So in my opinion depending on your personality either would work as an adjunct to CBT.
This is just my opinion but it would seem if you are a positive go getter type of person whose stress comes from not having all the answers Brahmi could increase your ability to figure them out.
If you are a negative worrier type of person Valerian would be the calming answer.
This is totally based on the information on the internet being accurate and isn't carved in stone.
There is also the fact that anything foreign to your body and hence your mind can increase anxiety.
Get your Doctors approval and go slow and remember neither will cure you without CBT.

Would you say Brahmi is better then the Valerian root that others have mentioned?

Thank you for this piece of information. Brahmi certainly has good reviews.

It looks like cutting out the drinks would be a good idea.

I love tea and will be looking at more herbal caffeine free teas.

Any suggestions on a good natural sweetener?

Gailerina,

I do drink commercial ginger ale occaisionally. It depends if you are trying to get away from sugar and glucose...I have found that the only soda without glucose are the more expensive ones at health food stores that use real sugar instead.

Davit, good to know about the lemon balm. I have made medicinal teas in the past for different ailments and drink them when needed, but I find ginger in tea form isn't "my cup of tea" for enjoyment. I enjoy candied ginger and fresh ginger which has a great aroma and flavour. So I will keep lemon balm in mind as a medicinal but it doesn't sound like it would be for enjoyment sipping...!

It would have been regular caffeine free, but that does not seem like a great idea.

I am going to try the teas though.

Ginger mint gets very bitter if you make it too strong. It is good for about three maybe four cups, any less and it is bitter. I've left the bag in the first cup too long and couldn't drink it. It is also a pretty strong diuretic. But I find weak even it is very calming. You would not like Lemon Balm then. It does not taste lemon like it smells. More like wood bark. But it works. "a spoon full of sugar makes the medicine go down".

I grew Stevia once. For some reason unknown to me it has to be dried first. It is easy to grow though. Expensive to buy.

My Mom made ginger beer when I was a kid, root beer too.
