Looks like you have a long commute too. I guess things are a changing there too..to bad the medi bus only runs 2 times a week..but your getting a great deal on your cataract surgery..The commute to the hospital will be hard though.
I have another VA that is closer 45 min away but they only take Veterans that have been in theater not widows or children deceased or sick Veterans. So I would have to go to the one that is further away..Anyway before I do that I will have to call ahead and see if they are taking Widows and children of deceased Veterans still. There are only a handle full of VA's that take us in the whole country and now that there are so many soldiers coming home with service related illness and injuries the funding is needed for those that served that are returning home..The funding is not mandated and is voted on at the end of the fiscal year each year which is October 31..So right now I am sure the funds are running low..As they usually are this time of year..Been there done that when my husband was ill..Nobody could get anything unless it was life or death at this time of year..So for now I will have to stick to civilian hospitals for my care..which is kind of sad but I am not in urgent need at the moment..So that is a real positive..
Well anyway thanks for listening and now that I have bent your ear I guess I better let you rest and get something cool to drink after a hard days work..We got our ice cream and I got brave and decided to try something a little different..Cherry Chocolate Chip. Yum..
All the specialists and any operations needed are three hours away from here, Our hospital is just for emergencies now.
The medi bus runs two days a week only so likely will be no good to me for my cataract operations. I have to pay for the lenses but the operation is free and the bus only 20 dollars.
It is in the high 80's here which is nice but hard to work in.
Dealing with these people for the last 10 years has taken a toll on my health that's for sure..It is something I deal with at least 3 weeks out of every month besides going to doctor appointments..The health care system is getting worst for me here in America. Anyway I am taking a stand by choosing to walk away when I can and hoping to get some type of closing statement from them at some time. They use 5 or 6 billing names for the same business to confuse the insurance companies. These big corporate medical giants are always one step ahead of us in finding way to cheat the people and the government our of money..
I have a plan to put a end to this eventually..So far I have canceled all my doctors appts but one and all diagnostics tests and if I get really sick I will go to a different hospital than the hospital I have be going to..As for a doctor I have called around and none of the doctors in my area take my insurance except this one that is why I have been going to this awful clinic/hospital for so long.. There is a VA medical 3 hours away that may take me if need be, that's a 6 hour round trip for me..
So for now I am going to try to stay calm and take it easy...I know this a hard feat in this situation..but this program here has taught me many things that are helping me..
I have never been double billed for anything so feel for you because I would not know how to deal with it other than to write paid on the bill and send it back.
