Therapeutic Effects of Gardening

Hugs brush off some of the soil where the beans are too deep, you can put it back if they come up.
Plant the six best tomatoes and throw out the rest. They would have had to throw them out. I throw out lots of excess.
There is a rule about giving that is the same as buying. When you give something you no longer have a say in it. Some people forget this. It is your garden, don't crowd it.

Davit,
I looked at one tenth of the area, and they must be too deep.  I do see about six growing, in the other area.

I posted a vase of deadheaded peonies and roses, and wish the forum had an aromatic component for everyone to smell the sweetness of fallen petals!

I'm tired today, and convinced that it's my response to the world that's the problem.

We only planned on planting 6 tomato plants, and I feel I shouldn't have accepted 22 in two vases from a neighbour.  What's the courteous thing to do with so many now?  I do have to return the vases, but OMG I have too much on my plate now

Hugs I would dig up a few and see if they are coming. If your source of seed is bad replanting won't help. If the soil is very wet cover it with plastic to warm it up and keep it from getting too soggy. If you plant too shallow you just have to hill soil around them for support when they come up. Your Grandmother meant too deep and they come up where they are not supposed to often taking too long and dying. They actually bend and the stem comes out first dragging the leaves with it. Ideal depth would be half a stem or about half a finger deep. These old saying stimulate the mind to remember things that are not wrote down.

Davit.

Replant, it is worth it. If the season gets late pinch off all the small beans so you get a few bigger ones.

Should I replant,or use warm water, after a while for the beans?  3 beans aren't many of the 40 I must have buried.

I must have lost the reply, but my grandmother told mom that if you push the beans too deep, it rings the town bell.

Might explain the ringing in my ears yesterday

Hugs.

If you plant beans too deep they sometimes rip their leaves off emerging. Usually when they don't come up it is old seed or cold wet ground. They rot easy. They do best in a hill or raised row so the soil warms and they can't get too wet. But then they have to be watered.

Tomatoes do best buried right up to the first true leaves as they will grow roots on the stem also. Later on remove the leaves that touch the ground and when the fruit comes clip back the branches about a third for more fruit and better light.
Just three to five leaves will do it. Make sure you take out all the spurs that grow in the forks or you just get bushes and small fruit, even on cherries. Splits are from too much water.

You may already know all this but if you don't you do now.

Still raining here so I may get wet weeding today. Sunday and Monday the sun shines. Lawn will be so tall I will have to half lap each pass. (small electric mower, small lawn)
One flower bed is doing too well, plants are going to fall over. One plant is above the railing on the deck.

Even green houses need weeding so if it rains hard I can work there.

Hugs, it is all overwhelming the amount of work, but it will get done, maybe a bit late but that is how it usually is. The labour as relaxation and distraction is more important than the weed free look. Although the latter if attainable is nice too.
Many people only aim for a small weed free area around each plant because that is all they have time for. I have had totally weed free gardens but I was much younger then.

Our neighbour gave us some tomato plants, and they're more than we wished, but they're free, except for the labour.  All we have to buy is basil.
I feel overwhelmed with everything to do.  Maybe I should change that to everything I wish I could do.

I had many beans, but planting them wasn't successful, except for 3 of possibly 40.  Maybe I pushed them down too far into the ground?

It rained a good deal today, so I noticed the drainage is awful.  I tried to fix it with a ditch, but it's a hazard for walking along the path, since mom could step into the ditch.

A weeping tile would help though.

Mom was happy to see a couple of beans pop out, but I don't know where the rest are.  I purchased a great big piece of cloth, but can't remember what the name is.  It like the material of the wedding veil.  It's funny, since I'm excited about using it, but maybe it's the part of me that is just stingy.

There's so much to do too, since there needs to be a barrier, since I wish to drain the rain barrel, when it's installed into the garden, but it's leaking around the edges.

Not much on the garden front today..We are thinking about planting a rose bush once the back yard gets shady..
Went for a walk at the lake this morning. It was overcast and cool just like I like it..The walk was a bit harder today not sure why, might be stress..Went by to check on the travel trailer today..It is in storage in a nice lot..How I long to get on the open road again..I am thinking about Kentucky or Tennessee and flea markets and maybe some fishing..It all depends on how hot the temps are there, I can't take the heat..I hope to get out of here once I get done with all my health stuff or crap as I call it, I wonder if it ever ends, then I can get out of here and breath again..as long as I don't run out of time and can still find a place that is not to hot...So I guess I am playing beat the clock again as usual..It is so hard to stay put and not just run right now, but I am holding myself back...

Anyway I couldn't leave in the trailer on a road trip right now so decided to do a little traveling in my mind today..When we were at the storage lot today I got out my pot and pans and cans and cooked a pot of chili. I let myself relax and traveled away in my mind to far off lands of peaceful green and quiet places in far of lands. So tonight I am hoping to have peaceful dreams of beautiful places I have never seen..I wonder how hot it gets in Tennessee?

After some rumination, which never helps anything, I decided to dig up some space for plants, even though it's late, and cleared the weeds.  It's going to rain, so I might have to redo some work, but it gives us hope.

My new avatar is a different view of the flowers which are blooming.  I wonder if it ever gets boring looking a flowers for some?

My neck is bothering me, so seeing my surgeon might be timely, tomorrow morning.  I'll be tired and should get a good sleep, so there was some thought into doing some vigorous at night, since the light wakes me, although it might be overcast.
