Therapeutic Effects of Gardening

I was exhausted today, since I didn't sleep well yesterday, as we slip into summer and the heat streaks. Air conditioning just doesn't make it bearable with the humidity.  I went outside and added some water, since it seems the tomato plants' leaves have holes, maybe just from me not giving them enough water.  I was just feeling my back sore too, but it's passed, so I didn't get much done, but if the plants look better, maybe I'll give them more water.  Water has been predicted for days, but hasn't materialized.

Hugs

Very pretty, it does look like one flower.

I'm done transplanting. I must have had well over 150 marigold to tuck in here and there. Yet not get them too close. What am I going to do next year when the perennials need to be divided. Oh well maybe next spring won't be so messed up. Maybe I will have some help. Maybe there will be someone available to hire. Maybe I will move to town. (I doubt that)  I see asparagus coming up where I thought I got it all and didn't till deep enough. Oh well, I'll dig it up and move it too. But first the strawberries need to be dug up and moved while I can still find them.  I have a barrel with 2" holes in it originally for compost. I could fill it with dirt and put a plant in each hole. I'm sure I could find some flowers to put on top. The big question is where do I put it. By the cherry tree might be out of the way. I could borrow the neighbours cement mixer to mix soil and amendments. Something to think about. Keeps the mind off the negative.

Deadheading let me top up a vase with pretty petals of roses, almost looking a flower themselves

Hi Davit and everyone!
The beans just didn't make it, with leaves looking they were eaten.  I'll have to buy something that climbs, since they're wonderful for digestion.
I deadheaded some iris', but it seems that my hands are connected to the brain, since I cut someones that were nice too.  Mom doesn't appreciate the idea of "thinning", since I cut some flox which are crowding out her beautiful roses.

I guess I'll try to put the idea of thinning into a spiritual context, and be certain to cook confidently too, at lunch tomorrow, since she feels she's losing something when I thin.  Even I don't grasp it fully, but it's probably since I'm not that emotionally attached to the flowers.  They're also connected to her 1/2 -sister, so the flox mean something more to her.

I need to take pics, since some flowers, like the peonies, just bloom for such a short time, that they're not around for a long time, but we can review the pics, since they create hope.  I'd also considered growing something in the garage, which has a couple of windows taking light in from windows on the west side, but the garage isn't insulated, and there's so much more to do.  There is a bay window on the second floor, but so many competing home things to do!

Hugs how are your beans. Almost all of mine are up now, enough anyway. Some more might come but don't have to.
One of the things I get from your posts is an appreciation for the fact my neighbour is a quarter mile away. I had forgot what it was like to have to deal with someone real close. I do remember it was not fun a lot of the time. I remember turning a blind eye to it most of the time. So having been there I have to say you are dealing well with it. It also sounds like they aren't doing anything intentionally just not thinking before they do things.

It has gotten windy this afternoon. It may blow in a change of weather. It rained for a few minutes. Huge drops that evaporated as fast as they landed. The wind will dry the hay fast so if it doesn't rain there will be a lot of happy farmers. We may get some flooding from all this snow melt in the mountains. Last year the road washed out at both ends of the valley leaving us stranded except for the train. Life in paradise hey.
I think I'll go weed the asparagus, I have to pick it anyway. Asparagus and cheese sauce for supper. It is going to be a long day since I have to water also.

It was great to see 1/2 inch of rain, with more to come, so I don't have to take out that hose.   On a pathway, there is some drainage problem, so I tried to see the water flow with food colouring.  I can wait and use a level I guess.  One side has planks, and the other side needs to be moved for more walking space.

The lettuce provided a nice microsalad today, and tonight.  Deadheading some roses will help, but I've been stingy about amending the soil, but it's also just indecisiveness, since the weeds grow faster than I can make decisions.

I guess I'll decide how much amending soil I need, load it up when this is finished.  One problem is that neighbours keep heaping more dirt into their yards, creating a disparity between our close lots.  Being lower means I might get moisture from the "higher ups".

Ice cream does wonders for a reason to stop. There are some big cumulous clouds but they are hung up on the mountains that built them. They sure do look nice but you know unless they turn black I won't get any rain out of them. Farmers are cutting their hay. That usually brings rain. LOL I'm going to try to hook up the sprinklers if the heat doesn't get me. I did water some and stuck in a few more marigolds. Tiger lilies are going to open. I have a few to move some time. Same with some tulips. Stuff just keeps dividing. The little roses finally are thinking about blooming. My yellow rose I stuck out this year is putting out lots of leaves. The Hansa is full of flowers and the air is heavy with their scent. The plan is to find some shade to work in or just sit in. Sprinklers are just screwed to the fence so I should be able to do that if I work slow. The problem with all this is that first I have to move a tractor so I can drag the water line to the pond. but first I have to mow where I will park it. If I'm going to mow I might as well move the other tractor. See what my problem is, I have too many tractors. Not really, life is just like that. Probably what I have is too much land. What I don't understand is why I'm wearing a black T shirt today.
Back out there before I waste the whole day.

Far too hot today. I have a head ache. Being out on a tractor at 10 last night didn't help. Cooler now so I have to go water. Looks like the heat will continue contrary to what the weather man says. I did get some mowing done. Fell asleep in my chair and got to wear my cup of tea. Do you think I might be tired? Tomorrow I will make a pie and clean some house, maybe take some pictures. Try to take most of the day off. Maybe try to catch my stray cat. On the other hand I might wake up fine and weed all day. It doesn't really matter.

After rushing to plant salad seedlings and forgetting the
purpose was to engage mom, I got ready for yoga class.

The instructor seemed
annoyed, by her rapid expression change, that I didn’t understand the
instructions, so I asked her later. She
asked me that she was there for me, and not to take anything personally. I must have set the record for most props,
since my body just doesn’t have any range of motion, little flexibility and the
attention span of an amoeba, since the street view is so distracting.

When I returned, I felt sore, but more mindful, leaving the
frenzy of daily life. Having planted some lettuce, I took some, and
left replanted them in the original planter vase in case the ones in the ground are
eaten, or just don’t make it. For the
rest, I plucked them from the roots, and washed them for a microgreen salad
next day. I laughed as I realized that
restaurants sell this type of thing for
profit, and it’s practically free to anyone with light, dirt, water and a vase.

It’s hard not to wonder where I’ve been all my life.

I just wish I could describe the alcoholic aroma of the
white roses from yesterday!
