Hi I am 61 year old woman and have smoked for over 47 years. I have been trying to quit smoking for the past 5 years. My longest quit was 31 days. I have been through smoking cessation classes and am currently taking Wellbutrin for the second time. My intentions this time around is to REALLY understand that I am 'addicted' and smoking is ruining my health. I need all the support I can get and look forward to getting to know some of you.

I'm no expert and you will see how long I've been trying,so I would encourage you to not loose a 20 day quit. I have gone backwards enough to know it will be just as bad the next time you quit. Why have to do it again?

I was so suprised to see all the posts in support of my quit. Thank you all so much. I am especially encouraged by the members who have been quit for over a year and are now helping others. I am gratful for the help I've had in getting on this site. I look forward to the day I feel qualified to help others.

Being in the presence of someone who is smoking can both trigger and disgust. My three hour drive was not as unpleasant as I had expected.I did the juice, water.and tic-tac trip. It worked good.It is after lunch now and the old familiar thoughts are creeping in.I have really read alot from this site today. Not ONE Puff Ever. N.O.P.E.~~I just keep saying it over and over.

Once again I have to thank you guys for the support. My throat is dry and my voice is raspy so it's probably a good thing you can't here me. I can't believe I have waited this long to quit! I got a thread today from my daughter who used this site to quit and has been free for almost 2 yrs now. The one about the widow who couldn't smoke around her grand children. Fit me to a tee. If she would have sent that to me earlier it would have angered me. Today I felt the love in it.I just about have another day made and it hasn't been so bad. I was miserable before I quit at least I can look forward to a light somewhere in this quit.

I feel your pain. I have never been able to go over 31 days without caving. This time is going to be different. I almost have a week now and this morning was tough but I am just saying N.O.P.E.
Read, let it soak in and remember you are the only one who really counts. One minute at a time. I'm sure we can make it!!

My childhood memory is of a birthday party for me when I was in the second grade. My Teacher gave me a minature set of dishes.
I remember my 1st cig too. I was 13,it made me sick as a dog. Me and my best girlfriend started at the same time. She had heart surgury about 3 years ago and quit. Thank God we are both still alive.
There are lotz of good things to talk about,I remember building pretend houses on the mossy spots in the woods and how beautiful the purple velvet violets were in the spring.

I'm on my 6th day and I'm pretty determined that I will quit this time. Is it determination, will power,a higher power, or an expierence. I would be very interested in what made your quit stick. especially those of you who have been clean for over six months.
