Hi Angelic, I've been on the patches for 11 weeks and today's my first day 'patch free'. And guess how I feel? Absolutely no different to yesterday. I too have had times of self-doubt. Remember that as patch quitters, the nicotine monster is still alive and well and we won't see the end of him until coming off the patches. So don't be afraid of being patch free, look forward to it as the start of a new chapter in your life! Keep strong, Keep posting, All the best Mr Ed :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 78 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,353 Amount Saved: 585 Life Gained: Days: 13 Hrs: 1 Mins: 52 Seconds: 17

My first patch-free day

Cuddles, MorningGlory, RiverDale & Lizzie, Thanks for your messages of support. Lizzie, Thanks for your reassurances. I seem to remember that you quit some time back(?) MorningGlory, Please read Lizzie's comments about decreasing the nicotine level. I found that the cravings increased slightly in the first couple of days on Patch 2, but then levelled out. I did not really notice the change from Patch 2 to Patch 3. I don't think you have anything to worry about!! I've now been awake for 8 hours 'patch free' and do not feel any different to yesterday (when I was still on Patch 3) All, Keep strong and good luck! Mr Ed :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 78 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,351 Amount Saved: 585 Life Gained: Days: 13 Hrs: 1 Mins: 37 Seconds: 51

sleepless nights

Hi Mikomi, You may find it difficult to believe at the moment, but of course it will get better! Listen to many of the happy quitters who will never consider going back. If it didn't get better, nobody would quit! Wishing you all the luck in the world.... My first patch-free day

After 78 days on the patches (24, 14, and 7mg), this is my first patch-free day. Feeling OK at the moment - but nervous! RD Man after the first inning

... and when I said deadline, I meant milestone. Probably typed this as I have too many deadlines at work! Mr Ed

RD Man after the first inning

Hi RD Man! As a fellow mid-Feb quitter I always read your correspondence with interest. Like you, I feel that the initial excitement of quitting has worn off; there can also be a tendency for friends and family to stop being as supportive, believing that you have 'cracked it'. That's why we're were - the SSC; there are so many people on this board who share your experiences. Post as much as you need to - we are your non-smoking family! I too have 'a hard time celebrating', but keep strong in the knowledge that each day is one more day nearer total freedom from cravings and addiction. Look forward to your 3 month smoke free deadline and CELEBRATE it! Mr Ed :) :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 78 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,348 Amount Saved: 585 Life Gained: Days: 13 Hrs: 1 Mins: 7 Seconds: 59

finally

Hi unccexsmoker, 5 times a week in the gym? With all those endorphines going round your head, you'll not have any room in there to think about smoking! I find that running helps keep any black moods at bay. Keep going with your quit and remember N.O.P.E (Not One Puff Ever) as even one cigarette smoked during your quit can at best set you back, or at worst restart your life as a regular smoker. All the best, Mr Ed :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 79 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,374 Amount Saved: 592.5 Life Gained: Days: 13 Hrs: 4 Mins: 37 Seconds: 22

New to the discussion

Hi Mazzie, Well done on your smoke-free 3 weeks!! There are many reasons which trigger a quit, but once you begin the journey I believe that you soon get to realise that smoking is waste of time, money, health and life. Keep going and be proud of your achievement!
