Cuddles, I feel for you. What an ordeal, and how painful it must be to hear your mom say those things. My 55 year old brother was diagnosed with emphysema about a month ago (thus this quit for me, it was the last straw for me and my family's history of smoking related diseases). My sister and I, who have been the caretakers of this family for years, told my brother we would do anything for him, but if he chose to continue smoking, he was on his own. I know that sounds tough, but we knew unless we were committed, he would not take us seriously. So far, so good. I know that we all are "one puff away from a pack a day" so I'll have to deal with his decisions on a day to day basis. We can't make other people's decisions for them, no matter how much we want to. I wish there was something we could do for you, Cuddles, but we are here, please come and talk about it, and unload. Just don't smoke!!!

Author,
I went to a hypnotist, plus I have listened daily to a subliminal CD specifically about quitting smoking. I can't say for sure that this is why I'm doing so well, but I do believe it has helped, possibly in ways I don't understand. I did realize before I quit that the subconscious is where alot of addictive talk takes hold, and I knew after smoking all my adult life, breaking those bonds were vital. I don't know anything specific about self-hypnosis, but I do have a friend who tried it by watching a VHS tape - she said it helped. Good Luck!!!
