Diva news...

Diva,

Sounds like you had such a nice day with your family!

Although it may be difficult to challenge the fears of having strangers in the house, it sounds like you were able to confront those thoughts and deal with them successfully. What a great feeling that must be! What made this time different from past experiences? Did you use any specific strategies that helped you manage?

These accomplishments should not be ignored! Perhaps try rewarding yourself for these advances?

Enjoy the rest of your weekend Diva!

Having Trouble w/ anxious thoughts

Brandie,

You mentioned that you experience high levels of anxiety in the morning before your daughter and husband have left for the day. What makes this time more anxious for you? Often the mornings can be very stressful for families because it can be very rushed and at times, chaotic. Is this something you find in the morning with your family? Can there be anything changed in your morning routine to make this time less stressful for you?

It sounds like you have been making a lot of progress in your life right now. Don't forget to reward yourself for those times when you are able to challenge your negative thoughts!

Continue to post and let us know how you are doing.

very small steps?

,

Beginning to expose and challenge yourself can be a very difficult experience so don't be hard on yourself at first. It will take time for you to become comfortable with your surroundings and this will all contribute to the learning experience.

Have you spoken to your employer about what you are experiencing? Often Human Resources will have information available for you that can help you manage.

Do not forget to concentrate on your accomplishments. These deserve to be recognized! By taking small steps and rewarding yourself, you will be able to achieve your goal.

Continue to post and let us know how you are doing, we are here for you!

situational anxiety

jdm,

You mentioned in your post that you are tired of thinking negative thoughts. We often encourage members here to challenge those negative thoughts when they occur. Have you thought about this at all?

Below are ten questions you may find helpful in challenging your anxious thoughts:

The following ten questions will help you to challenge any anxious thoughts. When you have an anxious thought, answer some of these 10 questions:

1. Is it "true"?
2. How do I know it’s true?
3. Is it 100% true? (remember something that is 75% or 99% true is
    not 100% true)
4. What's the evidence for it being true?
5. What’s the evidence against it being true?
6. Has it ever happened before?
7. What's different now?
8. If it were true, how bad would it really be?
9. What's the worst thing that could happen?
10. If the worst thing happened, how bad would it really be?

Members, what other advice can you offer to jdm about the next steps to take. What has your experience been?

Problems with profile?

kaylee,

Have you disabled your pop-up blocker when you attempt to change your profile? This could also be the problem with the Anxious Thoughts worksheet.

In your personal profile, try selecting that this information can be shown in your posts. Hopefully this will also allow you to make necessary changes to your profile.

Hopefully this will help! If you do experience further difficulties, please let us know via the feedback option.

zoe27,

Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

You mentioned that you feel anxious inside and outside your home. When your partner has friends over, do you still experience the same anxiety inside and outside? Perhaps you could take a walk outside to ease your anxieties? Would you find something like this helpful?

Would it be possible to distract yourself when you are in the home? Any activities or chores you have been wanting to complete but just have not had the time? Perhaps using this time to distract yourself and challenge those thoughts would be helpful?

Members, please share your experience with zoe on how you feel when other people enter your home. What tips do you find helpful? What has worked for you in the past?
