New to the forum and anxiety, looking for support!

Jamie,

Thank you for sharing your story with us. There are many people within this support group that share the same questions and concerns as you.  We are all a group of individuals who support each other.

If you look to the left of the screen under "TOOLS" you will find many supportive tests.  These tests are not diagnostic tools and are not a replacement or substitute for a physician's advice. The purpose of these tests is to prepare you with information that you can present to your physician. When you're finished the test, you can either print your Final Report or email it directly to your doctor.

We also have developed a Panic Program.  This program is 12-weeks and involves the tools mentioned above.  Each session is based on the previous session, so we strongly advise that you work slowly through the program and not jump ahead.

These tests may or may not be for you but they are "free".  If you have any question or concerns with our “TOOLS”, you can contact us at support@paniccenter.net.  We are the Support Specialist for The Panic Center and are open to any questions or concerns you may have.

Have you spoke to your family doctor about these stomach problems? Perhaps he or she may be able to refer you to a specialist that could help you understand what you are going through. These may or may not be related to your feelings of anxiety and by exploring this further with your doctor, you will be able to get answers and start to manage your health.

It is good to hear that you will be started CBT soon. Many members here have exposure to CBT and will be able to offer you advice on their experience. This advice may also help you in feeling more prepared for you first session.

Members, what kind of advice can you offer Jaime about CBT or even any advice on coping with your anxiety?

Welcome again Jaime and please continue to post here. We are here to help!

Diva news...

Diva,

It is so good to hear that you are processing this experience and that your session with your therapist went well.

Staying in contact with your therapist will be incredibly important as you start this new medication.

And do not feel bad about not answering others' posts. Your body is trying to tell you to "slow down." You have been through a lot and deserve to take some time to yourself and have a nap.

Cant cope anymore

zoe,

It sounds like you are having a rough day. Have you done anything to take time for yourself today? Perhaps reading a good book, a nice cup of tea, or even a hot bath? Do any of these things sound helpful to you?

I am sorry to hear you have to wait until February to receive more assistance. Did they give you any resources to use during this time? Often therapists know of other agencies you can contact while you wait to receive service from them. Perhaps try contacting your psychiatrist and ask what additional resources he or she can refer you to. These may make the next month go by easier for you.

Please let us know what we can do to help zoe, we are here for you!

Taking that First Step

lavanda,

It would be best to consult your MD. Although dizziness is a listed symptom associated with panic disorder, you should be evaluated further to rule out other potential causes.

In the meantime, try taking 30 seconds between each shift in position.

For ex: Going from lying to sitting, take a 30 second pause before getting up to a standing position.

Hopefully this works for you.

Members, what has your experience been with dizzy spells? What have you found helpful?

Driving

kimberlee,

You have received some great advice from karla!

Have you tried any of these tips?

You also mentioned that the anxiety starts while you are still at work. What can you do while you are at work to calm your anxious thoughts? Would it help to use any of these relaxation strategies while you are still at work? Perhaps begin to prepare yourself while you are at work by doing deep breathing exercises. Continue these exercises as you transition to the car ride home.

Please post and let us know what you have found helpful.

You mentioned that you have another big weekend ahead of you, does it include any time for yourself or things that you enjoy? Don't forget about yourself during these big weekends!
