Can someone help ????

Hi Kitty, Time to put what you've learnt in the program and start challenging those thoughts! Some days, you'll only be able to take it one hour at a time. You're learning a new skill and that takes practice before it becomes habit. If the pain in your arm worsens, consult your doctor. Why can't I let this go???

Toni, Take some time for yourself today. If you're still feeling anxious, write down a list of all you're anxious thoughts. Take that list of anxious thoughts and beside each one write another statement that challenges your anxious one. Hope this helps, Danielle ________________________________ The Panic Center Support Team

Illness

Juhso, Keep working through the program, it will teach you how to slowly work up to being calm on public transportation. Try starting to visualize yourself near whatever type of public transportation you take and rate your anxiety using the symptom tracker or your session diary. Keep persevering, Danielle _______________________________ The Panic Center Support Team

ridiculously scared of having a drink

Anewsanta, Feeling a loss of control during a panic attack has been reported by those with panic disorder. Have you ever felt this way? Could it be possible you've associated that feeling and panic with alcohol consumption because it lowers inhibitions? Start challenging those thoughts. You could also try visualising yourself in the presence of others consuming alcohol and rate your anxiety. Once you've managed to keep your anxiety to a low level while visualizing this scenario, raise the bar, try visualizing yourself in the presence of others with an alcoholic drink in your hand and repeat the previous steps. Keep this going until you've work your way slowly towards being in this situation again. It may take some time before you become comfortable in this situation again but just take it one day at a time, you'll get there. Don't forget to keep working through our program, it will also help you learn more about panic disorder and it's effects on you. Do any other members have advice for anewsanta? Good luck, keep us posted. Danielle _________________________________ The Panic Center Support Team

Fear of Mirrors

Jane, Start challenging those feelings and thoughts about mirrors and showers slowly. Try visualization techniques to get you started before exposing yourself to the phobia. Ex: Imagine yourself in the bathroom looking at yourself in the mirror brushing your hair. Rate your anxiety. Repeat this visualization until you can bring your anxiety down to a manageable rate, then step it up. Keep repeating this until you feel you can walk by a mirror, then stand in front of mirror with your back to it and so on & so forth. Just remember to utilize relaxation techniques like deep breathing and if your anxiety becomes too overwhelming, stop, remove yourself from the situation and try again later. Lastly, don't forget to keep working through the program. Hope this helps, Danielle ________________________________ The Panic Center Support Team
