YES! That 72 hour mark is getting closer!! Up to 64 hours, so only 8 more to go!
Aloha, yes, I am at work today, on my break, I grabbed my pretzel sticks and went outside and sat in the fresh air for a bit, that seemed to help (I work in a small office and was the only smoker). Now, for this afternoon's break, my boss is actually giving me a reward and is letting me off early and sending me for a massage! I'm thrilled!!!!!! :) And maybe a little of the 'rage' feeling will leave me!!! :8o:

Well I survived the weekend!!! WOO HOO for me!!!! That seems like such a feat for me!!!!
And I quit taking the Chantix last Friday, it was really bothering my stomach, so I decided to give this a try without out it. I've had a couple pretty good cravings, but have been able to overcome them!

I've been having lots of conversations with myself, ie. why would I want to go back to zero? is one smoke worth undoing all I've done and then have to start all over again? Those kind of conversations and I've been using lots of licorice, pretzel sticks, carrot sticks, and lots more deep breathing! And I've been keeping myself as busy as possible, puzzle books, games, reading, cleaning, scrapbooking, anything to keep my mind off it..........
I've also have a very large dumpster at my grandparents place and have been cleaning out my grandpa's garage/work shop.....so when it all gets to be to much, I go there and clean, hearing glass break inside a dumpster can be very theraputic!! :p

Thanks everyone!!!!
I think we need to reward ourselves for a job well done, after all, wasn't a smoke a reward.....such as "I will finish this, then I can have a smoke"......did it all the time....so I see no harm in rewarding myself for NOT SMOKING!
Cross stiching.....GOOD IDEA!!! That would keep the hands busy, plus make a few Christmas givts!! ;)

Goofy, Congrats on your first day smoke free!!!! And I know what you mean, the thought consumes everything those first few days!!! It will get easier, I promise!! As for the ride home, take a different route so you aren't as tempted to stop......if its a place you stop at regularly and know some of the workers, tell them NOT to sell them to you, it's what I did!!! HA!
Good luck to you! And keep us posted! The people here are so great!

Today so far as just been awful, one craving after another, and it didn't help that I just had a client in the office who obviously just smoked before he came in......nothing seems to silence the craves either.......and I'm doubting my willpower today more than ever.

Over all, I've kept a positive attitude about the quit for the most part, there are moments when I just hate someone who is still smoking (my husband) and now the exhaustion is catching up with me and I'm tired of flipping out over the smallest things (my teenager is hardly speaking to me), and it all makes you want to just throw your hands up and give in.
The mental battle is wearing me out......to the point I'll tell myself fine go smoke, then the other part of me says no, don't do it.....and it just goes back and forth like a tennis match, one reason debating another and I'm quite tired of watching it.

Hi All!
I am 41 years old, live in Missouri, happily married and the mother of a 16 year old. I work full time in the insurance business and also spend a lot of time caring for my grandmother.
I quit smoking on October 22nd, 10pm, last smoke. I've smoked for over 22 years, this is my second attempt at quitting, the first time I tried Zyban, managed to quit for a week, but the insomnia was too much for me, I did however cut back from being a 3 pack a day smoker before that try to a 1 pack a day afterwards.........that was 6 years ago. I hope that this is my last attempt at quitting and that I am able to quit for good.
I had been taking Chantix this quit, but had problems with side effects so am now going cold turkey (since last Friday).......today has been the hardest hardest day I have experienced so far!!!!
