Hello!

I've smoked for 22 years, and have failed a couple times at quitting in the past, but looking back, I really don't think I truly *wanted* to quit. But now I KNOW I AM!!! Although the little voices in my head keep giving me ever reason I shouldn't quit!! I'm on day 2 of Chantix, my quit date is Oct. 23. I'm getting more and more apprehensive as my date approaches, but excited too to finally make the break, hopefully forever this time!

Hello!

Thanks Everyone for making me feel so welcome and supported! I know its going to be a tough road and its comforting to know there is a "cheering section" there for support and advice! I have read Allen Carr's book, I think its great, and hopefully I can incorporate his thinking into my quit plan! As for the Chantix, I just took pill 3, not really noticing much of a difference yet......maybe a little odd taste in my mouth.....hopefully it kicks in soon!

Hello!

Day 4 of Chantix.......seems like today that when I want a cigarette, I light it, then after about 3 puffs, I want it no more. Hope that is a good sign that the chantix is starting to do its work! Yesterday made me question doing this....I have a teenager in the house who was testing the limits....and I'm thinking am I really going to try and quit NOW???? HA! Katie, best of luck to you too, I will be cheering for you! :)

Morning cravings

Hi Gin, My quit date is Oct 23rd, and I have been asking myself that same question, as I know that is going to be the toughest time to deal with for me. One thing that I have been told is to totally change my morning routine, so I'm going to give that a shot and see if it helps, maybe even as far as getting up a littler later than normal so I don't have that sit/smoke/wake up time. Best of luck to you!

Smoking Dreams again

I dreamed last night about grapes, a full counter of them in my kitchen, the biggest, greenest grapes I have ever seen.......I literally woke up this morning craving grapes!!! And I still want them! HA!! Guess I'm going to have to go get some! I can still close my eyes and picture these grapes, they were just gorgeous! Makes me feel so silly too! :p My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/23/2007 Smoke-Free Days: -3 Cigarettes Not Smoked: -75 Amount Saved: $-11.25 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: -18214

So Far, So Good!!!!

Haven't had a smoke since 10pm last night......and so far I feel OK other than a mild headache and feeling a little out of sorts today. No real bad cravings yet either, so the Chantix must be doing its job. So Far, So Good!!!!

Thanks for all the boosts today everyone! It is much appreciated!!! Took some Tylenol this morning, walked outside and got some fresh air, and the headache disappeared, thank goodness! After eating lunch has been the hardest point for me today, I really wanted that one BAD!!!! Took a lot of conversing with the Junkie in my head, HA! Any tips out there on making the after meal smoke easier? Brushing my teeth did not help at all!!!! And I've been counting hours today since I've smoked, that helps, I don't want to go back to zero and start this all over!!! So Far, So Good!!!!

Today hasn't seemed as easy as yesterday! Been at work all day, and all I can think about is smoking, want to go light up more than any thing, but am resisting that monster in my head.......and praying I don't give in. Didn't sleep well last night either, felt like all I did was lightly doze thoughout the night and I guess being tired is not helping today either! So Far, So Good!!!!

Well I made it through yesterday, oh my was it awful, I ended up crying last night, and I've been down right nasty a couple of times, but I haven't gave in, thank goodness!! I just keep telling myself that I didn't want to go back to zero and start all over. Kelly, I agree, saying one day at a time seem so long and so out of reach, so I have been doing one hour at a time....currently at 59 1/2 hours... Thanks for all your support and suggestions, its so great to have people who have been through this to talk too!
