So Far, So Good!!!!

YES! That 72 hour mark is getting closer!! Up to 64 hours, so only 8 more to go! Aloha, yes, I am at work today, on my break, I grabbed my pretzel sticks and went outside and sat in the fresh air for a bit, that seemed to help (I work in a small office and was the only smoker). Now, for this afternoon's break, my boss is actually giving me a reward and is letting me off early and sending me for a massage! I'm thrilled!!!!!! :) And maybe a little of the 'rage' feeling will leave me!!! :8o: My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/23/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 2 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 50 Amount Saved: $7.50 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 5 Mins: 49 Seconds: 17

Good going Marie! Almost got that nicotine out of your system and those 1st 72 hours behind you. It really does get easier and easier. You still sound like you've got a good handle on things. Everyone understands if you are a bit weepy or a little short right now. Just stay tough and say NOPE!! wow, that's awesome, marie...2 1/2 days already!!! Sounds like you have found some strategies that work for you. I'm wondering if you are working today and if you've found something good to do for yourself at break time. Let us know how it's going, okay? Well I made it through yesterday, oh my was it awful, I ended up crying last night, and I've been down right nasty a couple of times, but I haven't gave in, thank goodness!! I just keep telling myself that I didn't want to go back to zero and start all over. Kelly, I agree, saying one day at a time seem so long and so out of reach, so I have been doing one hour at a time....currently at 59 1/2 hours... Thanks for all your support and suggestions, its so great to have people who have been through this to talk too! We know what you're going through, Marie. We've all been there and we all survived it despite our fears that we wouldn't. You will to. The first few days are hell. No doubt about it but, it is manageable in small segments. Some here say one day at a time. I found myself saying one moment at a time those first days. The good news is it rapidly gets better. It really does. Hang tough. Take each difficult moment one at a time with whatever works for you. For me it was deep breaths followed by cold water followed by more deep breaths and so on until I was through it. Honestly, I don't know if I needed the second round of deep breathing more than a time or two. Congrats on becoming a non-smoker! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 60 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,800 Amount Saved: $351.00 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 10 Mins: 0 Seconds: 54

Marie, Yeah, the first three days can be kind of rough. But, you don't want to go through this again, right? You're doing great so far. Are you drinking plenty of water? Can you think of something else to reward yourself/look forward to during a break? Did you used to take smoke breaks? Plan a different kind of break - a short walk, a phone call, a little treat. Chew on something - a coffee straw, a pen. Blowing through a straw helps sometimes. And plan a pampering evening - a dvd, a bath. You deserve it. Hang in there, it does get better. Today hasn't seemed as easy as yesterday! Been at work all day, and all I can think about is smoking, want to go light up more than any thing, but am resisting that monster in my head.......and praying I don't give in. Didn't sleep well last night either, felt like all I did was lightly doze thoughout the night and I guess being tired is not helping today either!
