Day 14

So far so good with quitting but I am worried as to how I may feel after I have stopped using the patches. Can anyone out there enlighten me as to what cravings I may have then? Do you still feel the dependancy?

Day 14

Hi Jan, Thanks for your encouragement. As well, I am going to follow the patch regimen right to the end. I have done this before and cheated so I won't make that mistake again. Thanks, MaryAnn

Hi Newbies

I over the years have tried to quit smoking and was unsuccessful after several attempts. One thing I know for sure is that you have to want to quit.I do agree with the others that this is a horrible addiction. Pat yourself on the back everyday because you certainly deserve it. Every minute that you don't smoke is a celebration. For the first time since I quit I was in a very smoky environment this past Friday and I knew that I had finally licked it. I had no cravings and the smoke did not bother me at all. As a matter of fact, the whole time I was there I had a perma-smile knowing that finally I was a non-smoker!! Congratulations you all new and old, we are non-smokers. I can hardly believe I'm actually doing this!

Seven days is so awesome, you are on your way to becoming a non-smoker. I quit first and then my husband. We just returned from a holiday together where we were continually around smokers and I am proud to say we both never budged. We are still not smoking. I love the fact that he quit has quit. He is my biggest support system and I am his. Hang tight together it will turn out to be the best thing the two of you ever did!!!! Family Support

At 133 days I am so happy that I am a non-smoker but I find that I have very little patience lately. My immediate family has been very, very supportive but lately my mother in law not just once but twice has told me I should go light up a cigarette. I thought that she was my friend and I am truly upset that anyone could say this to someone who is trying to get over a dependancy. Needless to say, we are not speaking to one another. In retrospect, I have been a little cranky but it comes and goes. I did not feel this way in the beginning and wonder if anyone else has felt this way so many days into their quit. Family Support

Thank you everyone for your words of inspiration. Just to update you my mother in law has chosen not to speak to me anymore and now has my sister in law involved. All of this because I chose to speak up for myself. I really am very proud of myself for quitting smoking. I don't need them to pat me on the back but a "good for you" would be nice. Instead they continually give me negative feedback. These are woman who feed on others insecurities. My sister in law still smokes and has looked down on me since day 1 of my quit. It has been extremely difficult dealing with them. This has now caused a major rift in the family. Thank God, my husband has quit and he is my main support person. I wonder if they think I made him quit or something and that is why they are upset. Why can't they see that quitting is a very positive thing?
