Riverdaleman and Rob47....Congratulations on TWO years each !

This from day 34 on a thread that I just dug up. March 23, 2006
WOW I have done this new thing for 34 days (NOT SMOKING). I had done the old thing for 13,140 days (SMOKING). Imagine that. If each puff of each cigarette over 36 years was a single dose of mood altering substace that totals some 3,942,000 doses of some kind of mind bending drug. No wonder I have, strange dreams, my sleep is disrupted, I am a little moody, sometimes I am emotional, I am constantly hungry, (not really for food but for somthing to fill the gap), I might have a little trouble concentrating. This voyage has provided a lot of information to me and although I am a relative newbie to being smoke free. Being this newbie I still like to share my thoughts and experience. There are days and moments that I sometimes wonder what is happening to me. Well nothing really is happening to me. What there is is that I have stepped into a new life, a life that I thought that I knew and I am realizing that really I did not know my life. I did not ever really know who the real me was. The me that was for so long clouded in addiction is slowly being revealed as the old habits, old ways and old patterns are stripped away. I have no real imagery for what an adult who does not smoke is like. So I have to take resposibility and make that adult, the new me, into someone that I want to be. What a strange and wonderful opportunity that my addiction has provided to an almost 50 something. Here is an empty canvas, create the new you. WOW, what an awesome task and what a wonderful opportunity. I am glad that there are others to share this journey with. I am glad that others care enough here to tell their stories, and show parts of themselves I might not typically get to see. From seeing the parts of all of the varied and multi faceted people who post into this Stop Smoking Centre Forum I get to see, experience and learn about the kind of person I would like to be. I get the ultimate opportunity to choose what I want and what I don't want. That is where my responsibility lies, in making that choice and in deciding to be real and letting the new me come forward. I am sorry that sometimes I have been moody and I know that there are times for me that this is really a white knuckle ride and ultimately what I am working so dilegently at is creating this new life
I am amazed I actually am living that new life... :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/17/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 728 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 18,200 Amount Saved: $6,188.00 Life Gained: Days: 123 Hrs: 10 Mins: 36 Seconds: 1

ROB47 and RIVERDALEMAN have 2 years!

Hey Mr Ed Thanks for the celebration Thread. From a few days ago and still in action today.
Still ALIVE Still CELEBRATING Still TAKING IT ALL "ONE DAY AT A TIME" thanks Marie Today was a good day ... I didn't die, I didn't burst into flames (no matter how many flames I could see burning around me) or even better than not bursting into flames I didn't smoke. I didn't even think about smoking. In fact I actually learned something ... and that had to do with how for so many years, 36 to be exact, I could actually cave into whatever was happening around me by smoking. The fatal addict behaviour of thinking I could control whatever was going on around me by chemically altering my state. Well today I got to choose something different. Something totally different than what I would do as a child smoking at 13 years old under all kinds of peer pressure. Something totally different than what I would do as an adult: afraid, brow beaten, put down, pushed aside, bullied. Today was different I didn't smoke I just held my head up high and continued on my way as a person who simply is not a smoker. Thanks Rusty for the quote below. I hope you haven't taken yourself out completely, your support, care and voice have been invaluable to me. Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful. attributed to: (Hindu Prince Gautama Siddharta, the founder of Buddhism, 563-483 B.C.)
More CELEBRATION tomorrow because I like how I feel when I am celebrating. Besides it is way easier to hold my head up high as a person who no longer smokes and who just doesn't smoke when I am doing the "Snoopy Dance" Ciao Phillip :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/17/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 730 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 18,250 Amount Saved: $6,205.00 Life Gained: Days: 123 Hrs: 18 Mins: 33 Seconds: 41
