MAY COMPANY : PLEASE CHECK IN !

Hi Lilly - I'm still here. This is my 2nd quit (I was smoke-free for 2-1/2 years up until about a year ago). I'm finding it slightly easier this time - making the decision to quit was the tough part this time, because I knew it had to be FOREVER! I'm using Zyban, as I did the first time, and I'm glad I'm not having the intensity of side effects that I experienced when I first used it. The weekend was a bit of a challenge - I worked at our very busy warehouse sale, in the extreme heat, and there were a lot of triggers and old habits that kept cropping up. But I stayed firm! I do find that my resistance is lower when I am tired. That's the key time for me to be extra-vigilent, and stay away from tempting situations. I feel safe when I get home at night, because there are no temptations. How's everyone else doing? sushik My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/31/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 19 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 485 Amount Saved: $171 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 21 Mins: 23 Seconds: 7

Achievements - We are so very Good

Thanks stickin to it! I just popped in to see how my stats were looking - I can't believe I actually stopped counting the MINUTES not too long ago! I haven't been hanging around here much - I'm trying to forget I ever smoked. I'm working my way from being a quitter to a non-smoker! I'm glad to see so many doing well! Keep at it! sushik My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/31/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 120 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,009 Amount Saved: $1080 Life Gained: Days: 11 Hrs: 17 Mins: 11 Seconds: 6

why do I feel like crying every morning?

Hi ex-slave, sorry for the late reply, but I was thinking that maybe you could discuss your medication with your doctor and consider an alterntative to Wellbutrin. I know many people who were not able to continue taking it to help quit smoking because it had adverse affects - rather than act as an anti-depressant, it actually made them feel very depressed. I weaned myself off of it after about 2 months this time (I had taken it previously) because I was really feeling that I was sad and down a lot more than usual. Even if some of it could be attributed to quitting smoking, I still didn't like how I felt. I do feel much better now that I am off it. I know you still need an alternative medication, maybe you could consider something else. 29 Weeks - 203 Days - 406 Pies

Riverdale Man - if you ever get overloaded with pies, please feel free to send one up my way in Caledon. It's a funny association - but my grandmother lived in Riverdale for probably 70 years, and her baking was amazing, of course. She passed away at 92 - her hair wasn't even completely grey, she was mostly blind, had never learned to really speak English since she came to Canada as a young woman, and still lived alone, walked to church, walked to the store, almost every day. My hero. Mummy22 and Sushik both have 100 days each...CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Thank-you all for the congratulations! I'm sure mummy will be along very soon as well. These past 100 days have been very interesting - at times they have been endless, but on the other hand, here I am, and I survived! I have been back to my running program for about 2 months already - working my distance and time back up to where they were before last summer, when I lost my 900+ day quit. The weight I gained has not really gone anywhere yet, but I have faith that it will, eventually. Thank-you all for your continued support. I can't post often, but do try to stay in touch. Take Care, sushik My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/31/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 100 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,519 Amount Saved: $900 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 19 Mins: 20 Seconds: 10

My return to smoking

Cincere - I am glad you are back, and I am really glad you bumped this post. I found this site on June 1st, and I've been so appreciative of the poignant and informative posts that were bumped from "before my time". I'm on the verge of 100 days, and I must say, your original post could not have been more timely. Thank-you. Welcome Back. You CAN do it. May Company - Checking In

On our last call, we did manage to scare up quite a few May Company quitters, and someone suggested that we check in at the end of each month. Well, I'm close! I'm on the verge of 100 days. It's really interesting to keep track of the days, when I quit a few years ago for 2-1/2 years (without the benefit of thise site), I counted months and 1/2 months. I realize now that I lost that quit at over 900 days! The shame! How's everyone else doing? 3 Months today!!!

Mummy22 - you beat me to it! But there'd be no chance of me being here ANY earlier than now - it's only 6:30 and I've hardly poured any coffee into my eyelids yet! Congratulations to you. And I sure do know how good you feel! Enjoy this milestone! I'm right there with you. sushik My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/31/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 92 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,306 Amount Saved: $828 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 23 Mins: 27 Seconds: 46
