50 to 99 Cruise Ship Departing for the Century Beach!

I believe I'm just about ready to board! I'm hoping the next 49 days go by MUCH quicker than the last ones have! sushik My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/31/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 49 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,235 Amount Saved: $441 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 19 Mins: 28 Seconds: 24

Sorry, But I am resetting

Jerlasvegas - I'm sorry to hear you slipped - I was so tempted tonight as well - I went to a friend's for a BBQ and there was one smoker there - the thoughts of having just one puff were overwhelming, but instead I ate a ton of pretzels to go along with my wine. Tomorrow is another day. Take care. sushik My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/31/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 45 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,149 Amount Saved: $405 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 11 Mins: 21 Seconds: 21

tIpS to stop smoking

I have another D: - Don't Smoke! I like the bobblehead idea, but I am a boss as well, so I don't think I'll risk the backlash! sushik My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/31/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 44 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,117 Amount Saved: $396 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 8 Mins: 18 Seconds: 43

What Do You Do With The Money You're Saving?

As of now, I have saved about $ 400 by not smoking. Wow - it adds up fast. I spent this money on a shiny new gas bbq. Since I needed to buy a bbq anyway, and would have even if I was still smoking, I consider it FREE! My next stash of savings (although I sort of already spent it) is going towards my new Saucony running shoes! Very spiffy! These kind of tangible incentives are very rewarding for me. I also know that the whole neighbourhood is now safe, because the only thing smoking around here will be my burgers and steaks on the back deck! How about you? sushik My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/31/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 44 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,123 Amount Saved: $396 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 8 Mins: 56 Seconds: 48

lobelia

I only know lobelia as an annual in my containers. It's a very pretty, delicate flower. I had never heard of it associated with medicinal properties. I think I'll look it up. sushik My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/31/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 44 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,123 Amount Saved: $396 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 8 Mins: 56 Seconds: 59

End of Day 146

Good for you RDMan. I hope each day gets easier and easier for you. It's a very good thing you're not a Lake Ontario salmon - not very safe unless you're far, far out from shore, apparently. Have a great weekend. sushik My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/31/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 44 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,119 Amount Saved: $396 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 8 Mins: 32 Seconds: 38

The benefits of smoking?

Holeeee - that's a very striking list! I too didn't realize that some of those people had died, and certainly would not have guessed the cause. The tobacco company guys HAD to smoke - they couldn't give the impression that they were making money off something that was **bad** for you. Emphysema - interesting. And that was just a listing of famous people under 60! What an eye-opener. sushik My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/31/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 44 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,117 Amount Saved: $396 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 8 Mins: 21 Seconds: 1

Wellbutrin

Hi Jerlasvegas - how long were you on the Wellbutrin before you quit smoking? I was wondering if it caused you to gain any weight. I'm curious because I took it for some time before I quit, and I noticed a weight gain almost immediately. Now that I've quit, I can attribute the subsequent gain to not smoking, since I can't seem to keep my hands still. But I am wondering if weight gain is a possible side effect. I quit 3-1/2 years ago, using Zyban, the same as this time, and had completely different side effects. I didn't gain that time, and was so proud of it. It took me a lot longer to quit this time, once I started taking it - that's about the only difference. If you're using it to quit smoking, there's absolutely no way to determine the exact reason for gaining, if you do. sushik My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/31/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 44 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,117 Amount Saved: $396 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 8 Mins: 20 Seconds: 26

Do we help you with your quit?

You are my heroes! I don't really post a lot, but I have been lurking and reading. The posts that carry the most weight with me are from the ones who have quit the longest! The 'elders' are very encouraging, motivating, and helpful. I do realize that had I not relapsed about a year ago after a quit of 2-1/2 years (approximately 912 days) - I could have been one as well. The fact that you are all still here is a testament to your characters in that you truly want to help other people during this journey. Maybe if I'd found this site long before, I may not have relapsed at all. The support is tremendous, the camraderie is great. I also like when you "guys" post older threads that you know will benefit us newbies. sushik My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/31/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 44 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,118 Amount Saved: $396 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 8 Mins: 28 Seconds: 21

Stepping down on the patch

Hey Mama - 3-1/2 years ago I quit with Zyban, and messed up almost a year ago and started smoking again. Dumb me! This time I started taking Zyban again, and didn't quit as quickly and easily as the 1st time. I actually didn't quit until I added in the patch for extra measure. It worked, and from that point, I was TERRIFIED at what would happen when I had to step down or not wear it at all anymore. After a few days of this obsessive thinking (I slept with it on, and stuck it on as soon as I could after my morning shower), I developed a really bad cold and sinus infection (how come? I wasn't smoking - lol). I felt so yucky that I didn't put my patch on that morning - and survived. So I tried again the next day, and the next, and since then, have not had it back on. I am doing very well just with the Zyban now - but when I was on the patch, you couldn't have convinced me otherwise. How about you try the step-down, and see how you do? I'm guessing that the more you think about it, the harder it will be (like my obsessive thinking). If it gets really tough, maybe you could go back on the higer dose until you feel more comfortable. I'm sure all of this self-prescribing should probably be cleared with your pharmacist or doctor, but I can't see the harm in sticking with Step 1 a little longer if you need to. Considering the possible alternative, like a relapse - I think you've got nothing to lose. I feel for you, as I know how anxious you are feeling about this. At the time, no one could have convinced me otherwise either. All the best to you! Take care, and keep in touch so the great contributors here can help you along the way. sushik My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/31/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 44 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,118 Amount Saved: $396 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 8 Mins: 29 Seconds: 28
