REALITY!

Excellent advice Lainey!! And you are right about the little devil and angel part. We've been joking about that at work today, except we've been saying we've got peoples in our head! LOL!! I am happy to say that I have shut up the junkie devil in my head today. I took Tresa's advice and when he came out to play this afternoon, I hid from him in my happy place. Which right now is on a beach, with a little umbrella drink and a winning lottery ticket in the other hand. Day 3 almost down and whooped!! Quitting runs in the family.....

I was in deep thought yesterday about all the members of my family that smoke and how they've all been unsuccessful at quitting. Then I remembered my lovely grandmother. She passed a couple of years ago, and I still think of her every day. But, I remembered that she had smoked until her late 40s, early 50s. So I called my aunt and asked her if she remembered when she quit. She said, yes. She quit after the doctors told her she would die if she didn't quit. And so she laid them down and never picked them up again. That is also when she started walking on a daily basis. My aunt said at first she was so out of breath she didn't know if she would make it up the street, but she kept on fighting. By the time I was in school, she was in her 60's. She walked 2 miles every morning and 2 miles every day when I got home from school (she made me go with her). So I thought this was really cool, considering that is what I've done, dropped the smokes and taken up walking. Knowing how hard it is to quit now, I admire her for fighting it the way she did and keeping her quit the rest of her life, back when there was no internet or support groups or NRT's. I will remember this during my tough times and when I walk I will walk an extra lap for her. But, I will not quit the quit. I realize this post probably just means something to me, but just wanted to put it in black and white..... :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/14/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 2 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 50 Amount Saved: $13.75 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 5 Mins: 21 Seconds: 9

This Sucks.

Den, I can think of all kinds of solid rewards... I plan to get myself a dozen roses on day 14 if you have an ipod, you can purchase a download for it.... a 1/2 hour massage, manicure, a new shirt, an expensive shampoo, a kitty cat???? Den, that is a great word for those things... zaps... i just had one a few minutes ago while I was sitting here reading... You're doing great girl, keep it up. Let us know what you decide... Getting Ready to quit

Hey DL, I'm cheerin you on buddy! Don't look at today as your last day to smoke, look at tomorrow as the first day you don't have to smoke. You're in charge starting tomorrow. You choose not to smoke and remember all of the reasons why. Don't forget to come here every chance you get. It really helps!! Good luck!! Keep us posted. The Unexpected

Stay strong Cassy! So far I have been able to predict my cravings, and I thought I was done with cravings for the day. But then my 6th grader started having trouble with fractions on his math homework :quest: OMG - Junkie nicodemon was screamin for a hit!!! So, I just sat really still and closed my eyes and tried to think good thoughts. And it passed, as they all will. We just have to get thru them 2 minutes at a time... We can do this. Hammer the junkie! January quitters

I'm still hanging in too!!! Trying to stay off of the food, but at times it's food or cigarettes, so I choose the food. I have been trying to make it healthy food as much as possible. I've also been turning up a cup of water like it's rum and coke!!! :p My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/14/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 3 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 75 Amount Saved: $20.63 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 6 Mins: 39 Seconds: 10

IRRITABLE IS NOT THE WORD FOR THIS.......

Okay, I need help. I am having moments of rage that do not seem to go away. I do feel as though I have turned a corner today, last night when the rage hit, I had to work thru a craving. Today, when the rage hit, I didn't want to smoke a cigarette, I just wanted to shove it up someone's *ss!!! Unfortunately it was my boss's! How do you deal with this? Do your nerves and emotions ever flatten out? Still Wackin the junkie!!
