Wondering when I'll be able to go back downstairs...

This is so strange to me. Maybe I'm like the crazy aunt in the attic? Only no one is stopping me from going downstairs except me. Our son is in and he has been great about going out to smoke. I really appreciate it. But, just the thought of him going out there to smoke, or the awful smell on his jacket...even the thought he is still smoking and I am not is setting me on edge. No. I don't want to smoke. I don't want to have anything further to do with it. This is my 5th day and I'm still coughing all night long. I've never felt so strong about my quit before. Which is also different as I didn't feel this strongly about it when I laid them down this time. But the desire has grown everyday since. I'm having a hard time articulating the point or question of my post. I'm still in my p.j.'s for goodness sake! I'm just so nervous when I do go downstairs. I nearly run to throw together something to eat or grab my coffee and then back to my room. I hope this doesn't last very long. I've got so much to do after the holidays, like everyone. Sorry for the blathering on. Tomorrow will be better. :8o:Pat. Wondering when I'll be able to go back downstairs...

Well, another one down. I'm feeling better than I did earlier. Thanks for the support and tips. I think what was really bothering me was fighting off the habit. With the patches, I don't miss the nic. But the habit is a monster at times. I know it will get better. Good night everyone. :)Pat. Just a slap your forehead moment...

Thanks, everyone. I am putting a few pieces of nicotine gum in my purse just in case I subconsciously(?) set myself up to smack myself again! I don't think thats what happened this time, though. I think I just got caught up in all the holiday phone calls I was getting before I left and wound up in a rush. The point is I made it through. I forgot to mention something else I thought about in dealing with this. I thought of you all going through the same holiday as me and coming through without caving as well. If all of you can do it, then so can I. We travel this road together no matter where we are in the world. Good night my friends. :)Pat. Just a slap your forehead moment...

Hi everyone. Hope you all have had a great Christmas. I'm doing better since I got home before the winds began to blow. My forehead slapping moment came when I realized I had forgotten to put on my patch before leaving the house to drive to Terre Haute, Indiana to celebrate Christmas with the rest of my family. I didn't cave. A couple of times I caught a whiff of cigarette smoke and I had to clamp down even tighter on myself and kept busy with the grandkids. I had Kathy slap one on my back the minute we got home and breathed a huge sigh of relief. I'm finishing up day 4. I'm nowhere near being able to come off from them. I'm not entertaining that for a good while. I'm just relieved I got through it. Grateful. Very grateful. Another nice thing was to be able to come in here to read and post. I really feel like I'm home here. I owe that to you all. Merry Christmas everyone. :)Pat. My first day's not so bad!

Hey, Mercy! Just checkin' in with you to see how you're doing. As for my offer on that Dove trade, it still stands! Today got a little tough as I drove off to Terre Haute to celebrate Christmas with the rest of our family and forgot to put on my patch! I just got caught up in all those phone calls early in the morning from others. The minute I got home, I had Kathy slap one on my back. I didn't cave, which was great. I didn't even get witchy until the drive home, thank goodness. All is well now, though. Besides, I'm getting to hang out with you all for a little while as well. Hope you had a great Christmas! :)Pat.
