Hi, Wendi.
I've known a few have been quit for years and they have told me, that once in a blue moon a crave, though slight, has hit them.
I can relate in that I am nesting in the upstairs of our townhouse. Its odd, in a way, that I can get out of the house okay. I've bought gas, been to the drug store, grocery shopping... Its just at home, I feel "safer" in my quit. Not to mention, if I'm up here, I'm posting and reading. I figure when I'm ready...I'm ready. Then I'll push myself a little more.
Like you, I have had the benefit of my mately being off from school during this and that has been a HUGE help.
Hang in there. Protect your quit. When you're ready to push yourself, you will. You will because not smoking is a lifetime choice.
Stay strong!
:)Pat.

Hi, formyson!
Doesn't the name you chose for yourself here say it all? Don't let the nicodemon get in front of that. Butterfly Swimmer is right. Take it in small chunks of time. I know that I cannot look at my quit as forever, really. Not yet. I am up to it for a day at a time, though. It does get easier! We can do this together. Stay strong! :)Pat.

Hi, everyone. I'm talking about my quit, you know. And your quit, and your quit... Our quit. This has been a long year for me. I lost my stepmom to cancer this past April. My mately was diagnosed with colon cancer this last July. We're in the clear for now. They've found new spots on my oldest brother lungs and we're waiting to see where we will go from here.
I have tried really hard to look for the good things. The beautiful things. Finding 0 inflamed lymph nodes on my mate was the best thing.
Finding my quit again has been the next best thing. When I found out about Kathy, I went home and was on my knees, wondering why the hell it wasn't me. She never smoked. Has three beautiful kids and grandkids. Has tried really hard to take care of herself. There I was smoking my life away...and beginning to smoke even more.
I have a beautiful life. I always have had. I just can't see it as often as I should. So, I want to try harder. To make the most of every bloomin' day. If I'm going to be on my knees again, I want it to be with our grandchildren!
Today, I am an ex-smoker. I just think its beautiful. Sorry for the rambling. Its just whats been on my mind today. Everyday.
Happy New Year everyone! Stay strong! And remember, you are all beautiful!
:)Pat.

Parrot Lady,
I remember those AA meetings. Members would shake their heads and say "One addiction at a time!" As they clutched their caffiene and smokes.
I was one of them.
You've not only let that fool addict of yours get to the front of the bus, you're letting it drive. Plan your itenerary and whatever other havok it can cause.
Kick it off the bus! Right now! You are the one who is in control. Shake this off. Cry. Hit something. Run. Walk. Soak. Scream. Stay in here and talk to us. Anything, Parrot Lady. Just don't smoke!
Hold onto your prize and protect it! Its your freedom. Don't throw it away. You've worked too damn hard for it. And its beautiful.
((((((HUGS))))) :)Pat.
