Where did our chewers and dippers go?

Hello all. I am not a dipper. I am an ex-smoker (3 days under my belt). I was drawn to this site because my husband (who wants me to keep not smoking) dips one time a day. Right before bed time when he settles in and reads before going to sleep. He falls a sleep with it every night and spits it out about 1-2 hours later. I thought this would be a easy habit to quit...NOT! He does not think of it all day (unlike me thinking of a smoke about every hour) but when that late evening roles around and it is time to settle he is fine if he has his fix, if not....watch out! As bad as me without my cancer stick! I guess a tobacco adict come in many forms!olor=Maroon]Text :eg: My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/19/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 3 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 58 Amount Saved: $12 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 8 Mins: 38 Seconds: 45

Coping With Day Two!

Very timely post. I am on day two. Yesterday I stopped smoking and was using a patch. After reading many posts, I decided to cut all use of nicotine out...why prolong it? Old Nick

I am grateful for this post. I am starting on my 5th day with zero nicotine racing through my body and I am amazed that I don't have huge cravings. I am catious though, I know that it is going to side swipe from out of nowhere any day now and I need to be ready My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/3/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 66 Amount Saved: $18 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 9 Mins: 44 Seconds: 23

Birthday Quit

Happy Birthday KLF! We have the same birthday today (4 days). I have got to say I am loving it. I have quit MANY times before (5 times this year) and used patches and gum. I score as highly adictive (suprised me because I smoke 10-15 a day). And I was climing the walls with each quit (craved putting on another patch!). This time I decided to go through the withdrawals...and I am doing great! Definetaly going Cold Turkey works for me. Spending LOTS of time reading the messages that everyone shares about their quit has helped a geat deal. I look forward to logging on and seeing the quit days increase! Keep the Quit!! Roll Call! Who's on Board the Train?

I am on board! For good this time. I asked my husband "how many times have I quit this year", his reply, "18 1/2 times". Must be a glutton for punishment. Well this is going to be my last time. This is a non-smoking train, isn't it? day 11....and i feel Happy

I also just finished day 11 and going to knock down day 12 today. I am never around a smoker so I think that helps with the craves. I was a 'serial quiter', in 2006 I "quit" about a dozen times. I am on gaurd now and have made it farther than ever. I don't want to become to complacent. I know nicodemon is just waiting to strike and I will be on gaurd forever! Dreams

Hello all. I have seen a lot of mention about "smoking dreams" and had not had one until last night. After waking and understanding the dream, it has put a couple of things together for me and wanted to share and read others dream "aha's". In the dream, I had to go someplace that I did not want to go and BAM I had a crave that I could not believe and it was so real. I kept thinking in the dream that "I have got to get out of here SO I can have a cigarette". It was so intense I know in the dream I was going to get out of there and smoke! The dream ended before I got out of the place so I didn't "smoke" but I was going to. No doubt about it. Because my crave was going to be a reason for me to get out of there instead of taking myself out of there on my own volition because I did not want to be there. So many post here I read about people and the use of cigarette smoking as a "shield" or "smoke screen" so they don't have to deal with being engaged in life and taking action when something needs to done. Weird, but I understand it now from a dream. I have used cig's as a way to stay disengaged or as a reason to leave an uncomfortable situation. I have used the ol' nicodemon many times and now he is not around and that was a little scary but very empowering!
