Can you spend too much time at SSC?

Hi Everyone, Thank you so much! You guys are the GREATEST! I was afraid I was hiding behind the board and I should be getting out more and testing my wings. Yesterday I did pull away a little. I work in my flowerbeds pulling weeds and getting them ready for planting. It took me around 4 hours and I finally got done. Well this is the time you reach for the Cig and sit back and look at your accomplishment. Im telling myself the flowerbed will look just as nice with or without that Cig. That Cig craving got the best of me and I hightailed back to the computer and headed right for the SSC site. For me, I think I will test my wings but will still stay close to my second home, and my new family at SSC. I hope someday I will be as strong and wise as you all and can help others on their journey. You all are the BEST! Headaches

Hi Alley, I have had headaches everyday since my quit. They have not been bad enough to wake me up but the last few days I have not been sleeping much more them a couple hours a night. Im also saving for a new car. Im having trouble myself thinking of cheap rewards? I like eating out, and I plan on using that one a few times. Nothing fancy as long as I dont have to cook it! :) Keep up the GOOD work, we CAN DO IT! ~Shelly~ My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/30/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 11 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 239 Amount Saved: $35.75 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 3 Mins: 59 Seconds: 23

Help Me!!!

Welcome AliRiza, There is a lot of great information on the SSC site. Read all you can. I also suffer from depression and anxiety and I though smoking helped to control it but it does not, it makes it so much worse. What I have found out with me is smoking was a way to hide, not to face the real issues. In my first 7 days of my quit I did hit bottom a couple time. The depression hit hard. I had real low self-esteem and though I was as wimpy as they come. Do a search on SSC posting for depression there is some amazing posting. They hit me like a brick wall. I AM STRONG! I CAN DO THIS! I AM NOT ALONE! The people on the SSC are gifts from God. They will be there to pick you up when you think you cant make it another minute. A book I read that helped me a lot was Allen Carrs Easy Way to Stop Smoking. You can get it in Turkey. You smoke while you read it. You might have to read it a few times. And when you are ready, your friends on the SSC site will be here to help you every step of the way. Like Katy said you have to want to quit more than you want to smoke. You are much STRONGER then you think. ~Shelly~ My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/30/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 13 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 269 Amount Saved: $42.25 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 7 Mins: 29 Seconds: 36

I ve just got to stop

Hi mr mom! Welcome to the SSC board! I LOVE your Name! Im also 42 turning 43 this year and have a 5-year-old son. I have been smoking since I was 16. I have never really tried to quit in the past. I would cut down to a couple a day, but never 100% CIG free. There is something different with this quit. I wanted to LIVE more then I wanted to SMOKE. I wanted to be around to see my youngest son grow up! He has been my biggest inspiration to quit, I would look into his big brown eyes and the thought of him growing up without his Mom was enough to rip out my insides.. I knew all the dangers of smoking what smoker doesnt. What I didnt KNOW is how do you stop? I read, read, read did my Quit Program Tools in my Glove Compartment. I also read the book from Allen Carrs book The Easy Way To Stop Smoking, it was very helpful and worth the 15.00 I paid. The one thing I wasnt as prepared for as I should have been is the depression you feel when you stop smoking. It still comes up behind me and bits me in the B*TT. So I found a support group here in my town on depression that I will be starting Monday. Tomorrow will be 50 days for me! YES! What has helped me the most is the people on the SSC site! I truly believe I would not of made it this far without them. You need support that you can reach out to 24/7. Go back a read some of the older Postings and when you find one that really hits home print it out. Start a Quit Journal and if you have a Bad Withdrawal or Craving and you cant get to your Computer to post you can read your Journal it has help me a 100 times. Just Remember Today YOU have the POWER! Today YOU have a CHOICE! Today YOU CHOSE LIFE!
