Hello Everyone!
I have been reading all your post and they have been so helpful. Im 42 and have been smoking since I was 16. My husband also is trying to quit, and he has been smoke free for 6 days, Im very proud of him! On 3/14, that was going to be our quit date. We made it 4 days and then the craving won out. We started smoking a pack a day again on 3/19. I got so depressed, WHY WHY WHY cant I quit. On 3/24 I bought a pack and it has lasted me until 3/30 I smoked my last cig at 11:26 so I set my quit date as today. I did learn a lot about myself over the last couple weeks, I have plan now and Im stronger. Its not 1 day at a time for me, it is 1 minute. Im really happy I found this site, and Im looking forwards to getting to know you all. Until tomorrow, Im off to buy Allan Carr's book. It sounds like it is really good.

Good Morning Adam,
You had said in one of your post:
I really believe someone has to do something to deligitimize the sales of tobacco and stop this lethal smoking entrapment which being pushed down our throats by tobacco co.
Oh how do I believe that statement. Here is a list of just a few ingredients in Cigarettes.
Ammonia: Household cleaner
Angelica root extract: Known to cause cancer in animals
Arsenic: Used in rat poisons
Benzene: Used in making dyes, synthetic rubber
Butane: Gas; used in lighter fluid
Carbon monoxide: Poisonous gas
Cadmium: Used in batteries
Cyanide: Deadly poison
DDT: A banned insecticide
Ethyl Furoate: Causes liver damage in animals
Lead: Poisonous in high doses
Formaldehiyde: Used to preserve dead specimens
Methoprene: Insecticide
Megastigmatrienone: Chemical naturally found in grapefruit juice
Maltitol: Sweetener for diabetics
Napthalene: Ingredient in mothballs
Methyl isocyanate: Its accidental release killed 2000 people in Bhopal, India in 1984
Polonium: Cancer-causing radioactive element
My question is how in the USA can it be legal to sell consumers a product with a list like this??? All I can figure it is the all mighty DOLLAR.

Good Morning All,
Thank you for all for posting. 1 Day down. It went better then I hope for. I stayed very busy. I went to the bookstore and bought Allen Carrs book on stop smoking (Ill start reading it today) and then took my 4 year old to the park to play. Then we met my husband for a late lunch. What I notice my 1st time I tried to quit is I didnt keep busy and that is when I had the hardest time. So this time around I made a list of things to do to keep me busy until my husband gets off work. For me the hardest is time is when Im alone. I dont have many friends and they ones I do have all smoke and Im not ready to be around smokers yet so that makes it kind of tough. My son was my biggest supporter, but he just graduated from collage and got a job in Calif. and moved there last week, that has been hard, I miss him. I did all the exercises in my Glove Compartment, I learned a lot and it was very helpful. I also started a journal of all the reasons I need to quit, and when it gets hard I right down all my thoughts. My mind

I did all the exercises in my Glove Compartment, I learned a lot and it was very helpful. I also started a journal of all the reasons I need to quit, and when it gets hard I right down all my thoughts. My mind can play so many tricks that if it is not on paper it is so easy for me to lose my way. I was reading another post and Adam had said I cannot distinguish between what's junky thinking and what's reasonable thinking. And I can relate to that, so before it starts I thought I better have a plan this time, so I started a journal of thoughts. Well, I better get off, mornings are the hardest time for me and I need to go and get busy. I will drop in later.
Wishing everyone a GREAT Day!

Hi!
Bad morning! Had a real good day yesterday, I woke up this morning in a deep dark hole of depression.. I cant think straight.. I cry, panic, cry, panic.. I dont even think I want a CIG it is all the other things creeping up on me. I read some posting this morning and I know Im not the only one, but right now I feel Im in this deep dark hole all alone. I checked out the 2 sites Melanie the Support Specialist talk about www.paniccenter.net and www.depressioncenter.net and I think they might be helpful.
I think I can handle the not smoking but it is all the other stuff that is piling up. I think I will go take a nap and maybe that will help. Check in later when my typing fingers are working better. Thanks for listening..

Hi,
Im back, it has been a long day but Im hanging in there! Parts if me feel so strong and others so weak.. So I never know if Im coming or going. I guess what is hitting me the hardest right now is I DO NOT WANT TO FAIL THIS TIME, (I have never made it 6 days before without cheating, and I'm doing it this time.) I really do feel Im fighting for my life. If, I mean WHEN I win this I know I will be so proud of myself.
Crystal, I wanted to say THANK YOU for your words, they brought a lot of tears, but you are so right. It really made me think, I CAN do this!
Thank you all so much, I know I would of never made it this far with out everyone of you. And A Special Thanks to my IM Buddies!
Until Tomorrow
Shelly
