Hey Joestuff !!
You sound as if you are older and wiser now. (Me too by the way).
You are in good company ! Many of us have been in your shoes and scared to start. Scared that you will fail. You know, I felt the same way before I quit. But, I was wrong.. it hasn't been the end of the world. It has been the start of a new healthier .. cleaner, cheaper .. on and on.. way of life.
You have come to the right place Joe. Start here.. come often.. complain, vent, on a good day, on a bad day, on any day.. you will always find someone here who understands and will help you through. You sound like you will become someone who ends up helping others. You completed that 12 step program.. you can do this..
Get ready.. make some plans, get some quitting snacks, reward yourself with the money you will save... see you see.
Hang Tuff,
Chris

shadow,
Did the difficulty breathing just start up ? I mean were you doing okay and then bam.. it was difficult ?
I might be a good time to go see your doctor for an exam to see how you are doing physically.. he/she will be glad to know you have quit. It might be worth it stop the worrying.. maybe he/she will prescribe something to help.
This is the time to take care of yourself..

I pledge to never let anything take me back to the life of a smoker again.
I am so happy to a nonsmoker..
no more taking shallow breaths because I knew a deep breath wouldn't work anyway.
no more worrying that I will run out of cigarettes or out of money to buy cigarettes.
no more making my 5 year old wait (away from me) while I smoked.
no more wondering if the cough I have will hang on for weeks on end or turn into a sinus infection. (hopefully)
no more smelly clothes or hair or hands or truck or anything...
no more cleaning out nasty disgusting ashtrays. (yuck)
no more thinking that I can't begin dating until I quit smoking.. I'm clean and ready (well maybe.. soon)
no more putting off returning to the health club because I didn't want to chance hurting myself on those cardio machines.
no more feeling like I smell like smoke to children when I substitute.(They have asked me what smells like smoke)
no more SMOKING !!! YEEEEA !!!!
Sorry if I got carried away there.

Hey Stix !
Your great attitude is what is making it easy for you. You sound great.
Don't be suprised if some strange things happen in the next few days though okay ??
Like crying or getting a bad temper or sleeping problems.
Did you go out and buy some snacks to help with cravings ?? If not.. grab some lemonheads or redhots or sunflower seeds or peanuts to help out.
I will say, if you are around your husband's second had smoke, you are still ingesting a lot of nicotine, especially with the patch on. Be careful.
You sound like a quitter to me !!
Come often.. we are here to listen and help if you need us.
Hang Tuff !

H !!
Great news !!!
I have a bad memory but you appear to be Canadian.. by the price of your cigarettes.
I suggest you take that pack back to the store and trade it in for a nice cappuccino and throw the rest in the gas tank.
Or hell take them back and go see a movie or eat lunch..
Just get rid of the dame things !!
Glad you didn't smoke !!!
Hang Tuff !

Hey Eady !
I take it you are in the South or you work for a govenment agency or the Reserve or just really feel fore the victims of the huricanes.
The one about breaking your legs.. that's funny.
And my favorite (I had it too) You deserve to smoke now.. now that you have proven that you don't have to.
I like your idea of dropping the patch. You are now on day 5 and that means you are close to having the nicotine clearing your system. You really are nicotine free and your body will start thanking you immediately !!!
I am on day 12 and to tell the truth, the cravings are far and few between. I have stopped obsessing on the smoking and do not wait for the next craving. It has to sneak up on me becuase I am ignoring the whole thing.
It's like ending a relationship that brought you down and you actually feared that one day.. that dirty rat would actually kill you.
Going back might comfort a few cravings but, in the end.. it would be the same old sh$@#.
BTW.. we are starting a new club for February06 quitters.. we are even still trying to decide on a name.. FairyDust is organizing.. look for the posts.. you are welcome and invited.
Again, welcome back.. thanks for the smiles.. keep it humorous and see you in the funny papers.
Hang Tuff !

I loved this line :
I am an ex-smoke.Text
Sounds kind of cool...
You know, I keep seeing these people who have quit for 20 or 30 or 40 days post that they are having this terrible horrible day and want to kill everyone and also promise that they won't smoke.
It makes me think that it may be somehow occurring in cycles. I wonder if anyone has studied the patterns of quitter. Patch / Cold Turkey / wellbutrin / etc.
I haven't had any bad days so far and wonder why. I get a feeling like I would like to smoke a cigarette once in a while but, I just say nah.. like I do when I crave fast food or rich deserts.
Glad you feel better..
:)
