I can't stop cheating.

Gosh! Thanks for all the help. You know, I really do think I can get by without that puff. One puff, how silly to cling to it like it's really gonna make a difference.

I can't stop cheating.

I DID IT! I did not have a puff this morning. Usually that's when I do it. But THIS MORNING, no puff. I am so jazzed. Thanks everyone.

Day 5 is an odd one

I just got up off my chair, went to the door and had it pushed open before I remembered that I quit smoking. I was going to go out and have a cigarette! I don't have any cigarettes. That's how ingrained smoking is. I don't wear make up. I'm a dog groomer and don't want anything to rub off on freshly cleaned fur, I don't want to sweat it down my neck so I go clean faced. This morning, one of my customers asked me if I had a facial because my skin looked better. Can it be? Is it? An effect of no cigs for five days?

Mind Games

I was just talking to someone who quit two years ago and has the same cravings he did at the first day. Does it ever leave you alone? That's what I'm afraid of, that all my energy will be going into concentrating on not having that next cigarette and I'll be too exhausted for life itself.

Still crying!!

Greenette, I fully understand where you are coming from. The thought, What Will I ever Do NOW comes along almost all the time. However will I mark the passage of time! One of my most favorite day dreams is leaving California and moving to Florida. I have seen myself on the balcony of a high rise so many times that I can tell you what the cloud formations look like. And, I always have a glass of wine and a cigarette while in my lounge chair. What happens to my dreams now that there is no more cigarettes? It's over, why bother. Cigarettes are the be and end all in my life, without them, it's not worth going on. It's not worth moving away. Isn't that the silliest thing you ever read? My entire self worth is wrapped up in tobacco and paper? That's asinine! Yet, you'd be surprised how many times I really think that way.

Am I stressed? I broke a tooth.

Yep, wrestling with a 80 pound Rotty, with muzzle on, I got so stressed that I chomped down on that nic gum and split a tooth in many pieces all of which fell out. I can't take care of it now. I have to wait until I get about 1000 rottys ;) But I did not smoke and it passed. That's the best part.

Am I stressed? I broke a tooth.

No it doesn't hurt but I do have to wait until I can afford to get it fixed.

Day two is AWFUL!!!

The bargaining process. How many times has that done me in? I can't count. I'll have just one. It won't hurt. Just one time. No one can tell me what to do I can smoke if I want to. This is one of my favorites. If I have a cig today, and none tomororow then I can have one, then wait two days and have another. Next time, I can wait three days and before you know it, I'll be quit! NAH doesn't happen that way. I can have one when I'm stressed and the next time I'm stressed, it will be easier to not have one. Where did THAT one come from! I can have half a cig and if no one sees me for two hours, I can have the other half. I can have half a cig in the morning and save the other half for before bed. I can think of more ways to have a cig that Mrs. Fields got cookies.

I'm Back! Yaaaay

My CHILDREN! I don't have any children except for my son who lives far away and I see him once a year. Arwen is my puppy, and maybe she is like my kid. She is a glorious white toy poodle and got me started quitting smoking after many many reasons, good reasons, failed to work. Arwen would find my cigarettes, take each one of the pack hold it in her mouth and break it with her paw. Then she would methodically take out another, hold it in her mouth and break it with her paw, each one until they were all broken. Then she would get up on her hind legs and dance around like she did something wonderful. It made me stop and think that my cough had gotten just terrible. I would cough up a half cup of phlegm every morning. And my partner had to have his surgery delayed for three months because he had such bad circulation in his legs from smoking. All kind of bad things were happening to me, but there was Arwen, breaking up all those cigarettes, so happy about it, so proud of herself.
