and He Coughs

Lady, You are a very strong person. I know how hard that is to watch. I saw my grandmother do the same thing. She died of cancer in Feb. of '04. Now I see my mother doing the same thing, and yet still my hands are tied. It is so painfull to watch a loved one go through that. When I lived with my mother I hated to hear her coughing. She will not stop either, all we can do is be there for them and hold their hand. My grandmother stopped 2 months before she passed away, and maybe a week befors she passed she said she wished she had never stopped, because after she did she started going down hill fast. She told me and one of my aunts thatif we were going to stop to do it while we were young because at her age the damage is already done. I am not sure she was right, but I belive she felt that she was. I wish you and your family the best, and congrats on your quit. I am glad to be one of the ones who made up my mind and did it. I had someone say you have not even stopped for a month yet why are you so sure of your self and I said because in my heart I have stopped period.I wish you and your family the best, and congrats on your quit. And I agree it can be done but YOU must do it for yourself, no one else can do it for you. Nicotine Poem........

Hi all I am still here just been busy finding a new job. I got boared today and wrote this and thought I should share it with you all. NICOTINE OH NICOTINE.... You are the one I used to crave, Now to you my hand I wave. I thought the pain would never end, All I could see was you, "my friend". I loved you though you hurt me so, I loved you more than you'll ever know. You made yourself look SO kool, Everyone knew I was your fool. All the time that I gave, Now I see I was just a slave. You took from me so many years, You placed inside me so many fears. One day at a time is what they said, I did not belive them, in my head. Then I know what I must do, I HAD to say good-bye to you. Forever now you shall be gone, For this time I have one! Written by: M. D. Just want to know what you think??

I have a close friend and she stopped last Monday. She was doing so good, and yesterday, her car broke daown. She was with a smoker at the time and she said she grabbed a cig and lit it. She said as soon as she took that first puff she threw it away. She ask me if that counted against her and I said yes, she kinda got mad at me, but I belive in N.O.P.E. and I guess she feels she hasn't "started smoking" again because she didn't really smoke the whole thing and hasn't smoked since but I belive she needs to start over today as her quit date. I am upset with all this really and I shouln't be because I know she is really mad at herself, not me. I just want to know if "one puff" is a slip? Onset of Depression

I think it is the last few days I have been dealing with that too, and I am on wellbutrin for depression. I have a appointment as well, I was also wondering if it was the nic. or if the med was not working any longer. Are you an honest quitter?

If I failed I would want to share it with others, and why it happened. I would hope my slip would help others not to do the same. The advice I have seen on SSC is wonderful not to mention, it's FREE! So use it as a hand up if you fail and a rail to hold to if you don't.
