I too have experienced angry days. I think we all have. It passes. In the meantime, maybe buy some boxing gloves....oh, and a punching bag. I didn't mean for the dog! :p

Sugarnose, I am right with you. It looks like we've both been quit since the new year and having a hard time losing weight. I am also working my butt off with exercise and merely maintaining. Three months seems like such a long time to wait, but it looks like that's the minimum time it has taken others to start losing weight. Only another month and a half for us....in the meantime, let's keep trying! :)
Just a little something I read the other day in a health magazine: smokers tend to have a lower BMI than non-smokers (which explains a lot) but they also have more toxic belly fat (around the liver). Hhmmm...something to think about... We are still healthier now than when we smoked. Period!

Way to go Phil! That must feel great. I'd say it's time for a big reward.

I too experienced some strange sleeping patterns. For the first week or two I woke up every hour to go to the washroom. First at 2:00, then 3:00, then 4:00....But eventually things did go back to normal. Now I am sleeping pretty good and it's only been 50 days since I quit. I am dealing with some other side effects.......but I'll leave that for the weight gain discussions...
Bottom line is that it will get better. Hang in there!

OK, this is for all of you successful quitters who have gained and lost some weight. How long after your quit did you finally get back to normal? Or did you? I am not gaining any weight right now, but I'm not losing either. (I actually gained some last year when I unsuccessfully tried to quit, and then some more over Christmas just before my current quit) I need to lose 20 pounds and it's just not budging! I am eating right and exercising. I don't know what I'm doing wrong except maybe my metabolism has slowed down. Please tell me it's possible to lose this extra weight and you know because you've done it. I need reassurance!

lindak, you are not alone. I too can not seem to drop my extra weight no matter how hard I try. It is really frustrating! But, as I have been told by many others, focus on the quit and keep exercising. The weight will come off (eventually) and we are making ourselves stronger in the meantime. By the way, I have noticed a few people use the term "stones" when referring to weight loss. What does that mean? Is it a British term? (I'm Canadian) :)

Good for you 2stubborn! Yes, I know what you mean about the scale. But, as you can see, it does feel good when the number is going down! ;)
Myself, I'm still not losing! I am going to the gym 3 - 5 times a week and I've recently started yoga. I am eating very healthy. Although I have to confess that my sweet tooth has gotten the better of me on a few occassions... But I am working on that. (I'm currently munching on carrot sticks!)
