Has anyone tried the Quit Aid called "Final Smoke?"

Jef, I appreciate your honesty. All of your reasons you've given to continue to smoke are the same ones we have all told ourselves... before we quit smoking. First off, realize you are an addict. Smoking is not just a bad habit, it is also an addiction. And it has to be treated as such. Go through the program tools on the left. Do the exercises in there. It will help you firm up your reasons for quitting. It will help you come up with coping tools. It will help you decide on the best stop-smoking aid for you (whether patches or gum, etc). Print out the information you come up with and take it to your doctor with you. Let them help you come up with a comprehensive plan to quit! About the NRTs or other stop-smoking aids... they HELP you quit. But they cannot quit for you. You have to do the quitting. You have to be committed to seeing it through. The NRT's will help ease the nicotine withdrawals, but they don't help with the emotional/psychological part. This site can help with that, but you have to make the commitment to come here and post when we're needed. You CAN do this Jef! Please work the program and work with your doc. Stick around here and read, read, read! And set that quit date! Then be determined to get through it one day at a time! We CAN do this! I think I am going to smoke!

Sunflower, Smoking will only make you feel better while the damn thing is lit! The minute you put it out, the withdrawal process starts again. The only way to put an end to it...is to not smoke! I am soooo proud of you for drowning the pack! Please, please be proud of yourself! You're doing a very difficult thing...but you are doing it! ~lbugg~

blood presure

Hey sheba, I have blood pressure problems now that I didn't have before. It may or may not be related to NRT usage or quitting. But this is one symptom that you MUST have treated by your doc. Just make sure they know all meds you're taking, including the patch. Stay quit and be well! from smoking pickles to SSC spirit pickles!

Over the last month I have been craving. I have a large garden. I can everything from green beans, pickles to tomatoe and salsa. Canning is a process that is broken up in lots of smaller taks....wash the jars, snap the beans, wash the beans, heat the canner, fill the jars, etc, etc. Set the timer and start all over again for the next load. Last year at this time, I wasn't very far in to my quit. I struggled, boy did I struggle! Every task completed used to be rewarded by a cig. There's alot of time where you're waiting on a timer... nothing else to do but smoke. After getting through it all last year, I thought I had that trigger whipped! So, I have been through all the seasons. It's canning season, and having been through it once smoke-free, I thought I'd be just fine. But....I get done with a task and I'm actually reaching for the pack and lighter! I've gone back to my coping tools of mints, ice water, even screaming! (haha) Last night, I decided to go searching for a post that joyfulspirit did for me about smoking pickles, but I couldn't find it. I did, however, find a post that I did at around 100 days that really put in to perspective what I'm going through now. I needed that reminder of how hard it can be...because today is NOTHING compared to what it was then! I automatically steer my thoughts to something else, pop in a mint or two. It's not so much a desire to smoke as it is a feeling of something missing in the process. I keep feeling like I'm forgetting something. So... in that post of long ago, I told joyful and Luna that I was gonna have to make some SSC Spirit Pickles. And so I have...they are a delicious dill with the kick of habanero! :eg: So there is still a little bit of ssssmokin' going on, but it has nothing to do with nicotine!! Okay...so this was a long-winded way of saying yes, sometimes you'll get hit with craves even after a year, BUT, you are much more capable of getting past them! Plus, a journal will really help you realize that even though it seems bad, it's not near as bad as it once was! I will not smoke! I am free!
