Sudden Anger

Wow, I am really happy to see this question.  This does happen to me from time to time and I really surprise myself.  I am grateful for Sunny's response and any others who can offer suggestions.  This is something that I would love to resolve.

Bad Anxiety Today

Hi from me, Debora.  I would echo what has been said about the Progressive muscle relaxation.  If you don't have that much time, you could focus particularly on your stomach.  That's what I do sometimes if there is a pain or a condition that is causing me anxiety.  I practice tensing that area and relaxing it, sometimes a few times.  It really helps me.  Best wishes for a better rest of your day!

Scared today -

Hi everyone.  I woke up feeling afraid this morning.  I am nervous about driving to work.  This is all new to me and I am logging on to get direction on how best to start my day so I can have one.  Usually my panic attacks happen later in the day.  Any suggestions?  I feel like I need to start over at the beginning of the lessons.  Has anyone every done that? Peace to all of you.

Falling deeper down the well...I need help...badly

Good morning, Shinji.  I don't know if this is an option for you but could you listen to relaxing music through headphones when it is quiet time and you need to sleep?  I have found lots of free podcasts with a lot of the techniques they use in the program.  I admire you for not wanting to leave college.  I took a break after high school and it is not easy to go back.  I take a couple of classes a year now.  I take them online.  I really am rooting for you and want things to turn around for you.  I know you can do it!

Falling deeper down the well...I need help...badly

Shinji, I am on the site right now looking for answers that will help my situation and this is what is helping me most right now - Asking questions about my thoughts like:  Is it "true"?  How do I know it’s true? How bad would it really be? What's the worst thing that could happen? If the worst thing happened, how bad would it really be?
These are questions that come right from our homework and our toolbox.  I'm not certain if you have reached this session yet where we challenge our anxious thoughts.  I think it is going to help me get through my morning okay.  Best wishes.

Fear of driving, I need help :/

Hi applejack.  Have you started to use the sessions and the tools on the site yet?  It's great that you are able to document exactly what your anxious thoughts are. You are ahead on the homework in that case because a very early step is to document your anxious thoughts and to challenge them (using the tools on the site).
In my case, I started to experience panic while I was jogging.  I got to a point where I would not jog more than a certain distance from my car (Can you imagine running six miles going back and forth 1/2 mile? - I've done this).  I've been challenging myself to increase the distance - this weekend was the farthest I've done - 1.5 miles.
Following the program, I would think you could find yourself, eventually, setting driving goals for yourself and I am sure that you can accomplish them!
Best wishes!

Forgiveness and the burden of toxicity which accompanies not learning to forgive

You raise a very good point, Loves Trees.  Saying "I forgive you but I never want to see you again" doesn't seem right.  What about saying - "I forgive you.  If you continue to act this way, I am not going to be around you.  When you are ready to make a change, I will be here".  That way you can be freed from the burden of holding a grudge or being angry, and you can do the right thing for yourself but not allowing people with bad intentions into your life.

Scared today -

Thanks for the advice.  It is very helpful!

I am feeling much better now - thank you.  I got a ride in to work with a family member who lives down the road.  It seems silly (now) but I think that my anxiety this morning was a result of sleeping with our space heater on all night.  I felt super dehydrated - which is my biggest trigger/fear.  My first panic attack coincided with a hospital visit for dehydration.

As a result, I skipped my coffee and am having a much better morning.

It's nice to have a reason to restart and to follow the program a little more closely.
