Getting to Know the Members

I feel most alive at the beach, I love being there, just relaxing and watching my twins build sand castles, the beach is very calming!  With my husbands work schedule, don't get there very much.

Im not doing too good tonight

yes, going through the lessons on this site is slow going, but going, I try to remenber sometimes that it is a long road, but I think I look at setbacks as failures, when I am having  a good day everything looks so clear, but on bad days it'sdifficult to see the light at the end of the tunnel, I have learned that meds can help, I have been so afraid of them, I took one on a  bad day and it helped me not to get to the panic.

Your Top 3- Words of advice

1- believe in a higher being,  you need someone to help you through the rough spots   2-don't look at setbacks as failure, it's just a detour in the road, you will get through it   3-find a support group, like this to talk with others to get advice and positive feedback, which we all need, when we are being negative about ourselves.   jaybe

Where does Social Anxiety Stem From?

I believe social anxiety comes from the life we grew up from, My father is a minister, we were always taught about fire and brimestone, but never told we were loved , never showed,I am not close to either of my parents and could never talk to either one on them.  My brother has lived a painfully hard life too. Until the last few years, I thought my life was "normal", I listen to people say, I have caring ,loving parents that have helped me be who I am today, and realize I can't say that.  On Fathers' day I cried.  I never had my parents ever say they were proud of me for anything, I just was critisized for anything I did wrong.  I have learned an important aspect in therapy, sometimes you have to set boundaries to protect yourself in healing process.  Unresolved issues are hard to try to resolve when they have build up over 30+ yrs., but not impossible!  I have wasted much of my life being angry!  especially at my brother, I only see him 2-3 times a year and we only live an hr. away.  Sorry for the venting , but having an emotional day, went to therapy yesterday and I always have trouble for a few days after to get focused.  jaybe

Where does Social Anxiety Stem From?

~m ,      I guess you are right, I shouldn't apoligize, but it's a habit that I am used to . I do try to stay positive, just started therapy about  1 1/2 months ago, I am glad to hear that the "hangover " becomes less scary.                               Davit,   You are so right!   I am only hurtin myself, because my parents can't be bothered
with even really listening.  House cleaning, I like that, good comparison.     jaybe

Summer Reading Plans at the Center Anyone?

I love to read as well, I have great book called Boundries, it is written by two psychologist and really enlighting it talks about setting relationship boundries, instead of being the person who never says no, beacause they feel to guilty.I have read on here alot of blogs, I think this book would be perfect for alot of us, { myself included} my therapist recomended it.  reading is very relaxing it is like a mini vacation to forget anxiety for awhile   jaybe

Effect of Classical Music

i was in a choir for many years also, I miss it! I have moved recently ( about 1 1/2 yrs. ago) and with anxiety am afraid of the commitment and of not going when not feeling well.  Singing has been such a great thing for me since high school.

Quote of the day

Hugs, thanks for info.   I know what mean about lists getting longer, in my 20's, I made a list on Mon.and by Sat. Everything was done, now it seems that the list continues and is never ending, but I have learned to be kind to myself and not fret over the small stuff.    jaybe
