Summer Triggers

I do have to say I think Summer is the hardest time to not smoke...but then again that was the month I QUITE was June 2011!  A trigger to make me THINK about smoking is the summertime to not EAT!

BUT the way I stop triggers is when I am in a public place I can smell the smoke for miles it seems now...HA HA...I remove myself and then say to myself how I feel bad for that person that is really killing them self and taking time off of their lives to see their children or grandchildren grow up.

My triggers come and I STILL COUNT!  I do NOT get past 5 and it is gone. So love the counting....but for newbies.....It was not 5 seconds at first...it was longer and it was more frequent also. BUT IF I CAN DO IT YOU CAN TO!

Good habits

I have found that sharing so much time with my Grandson hands on let's me grow with him and he will not have to know about the nasty cigarettes. I hope this will show him that smoking is not good.

My good thing is the fact that I can plan Summer Day Camp with him..(Just us two) and be able to do the things with him and not have to go and smoke outside away from him. It has brought us even closer!  We have been taking trips..we went for a picnic and played at the park and fed the ducks, we had water day here another day where I set up his pool and slip n slide and sprinkler. The joy of playing with him is great! We have many other field trips planned. Fire Department and Police Department for just 2. We also have Learning Day's.  YEAH FOR NOT SMOKING!

How to let go of the NRTs???

Hi Dory!

It was hard for me to quit at first also...I had been smoking for  almost 40 years. YEP. LOTS OF YEARS! I started as a kid being "COOL"...and then I was HOOKED!  You are doing WONDERFUL!  I have been put to the test with the NOT SMOKING with many issues that have gone on in my life this past year...But I told myself I would NOT give in to a material item that had such control over me...I was in bondage to the cigarettes.  I am glad to say that I have NOT smoked since I quit in June 2011!

YEAY for you exercising! I have gained weight and NEED to get back to the gym...but I am having health issues and can't go back just yet.

YOU ARE DOING SO WELL!

Stay STRONG and when the feeling comes try to count it out in seconds and REALLY CONSINTRATE on the numbers. That was what helped me and sometimes I still need to do it...then it passes VERY FAST. The numbers will get less and less.

HANG TOUGH!!!  You will be GLAD YOU DID!

I am here for support as well as everyone on this board. THEY HELPED ME SO MUCH!

Today is my one month anniversary!

Great JOB Alexa!
I can still remember the first week and then first month when I quit. I was so happy to celebrate 1 Day and 2 Days...lol  YOU ARE DOING GREAT!  This IS the place to be if you are a QUIT! I started when I first quit here and to be honest I don't think I could have done it with out all the support from all my Non-smoking friends here!  I had to write on here EVERYDAY!  It was TO HARD...so keep up the GREAT WORK!  and don't forget to REWARD YOURSELF!  YOU DESERVE IT!

Isn't it nice to be able to smell things and actually taste the food? I LOVE IT!
