I can't say that this is directly caused by the Chantix but the only things I've noticed is that I am more constipated than normal.
I just read my first reply to this thread and that really sounded bad. I've had some rough days and almost gave in to the cravings a couple of times. I really do think it's like so many other things we face in life. It is a matter or will power.
Like Karen said I had started to hate the fact that I smoked . That combined with my current situation made it easier.

I got myself a reward. OK I did cheat by a few days though. I got a Blackberry. I wanted a new phone anyway and got a deal on the Blackberry so I went for it. I found out later that part of the reason I got such a deal is that there is a new model coming out soon. Anyway, I can access the web from the phone, do email and probably post here too.

Have any of you ever watched the TV show Mad TV? If not, it's a sketch comedy show along the lines of Saturday Night Live. Bob Newheart was on one time playing a psychiatrist. He had a client come in and express all these strange thoughts. He told her I have one thing to tell you that will solve all your problems. Should I write this down, she asks. Well, it's only three words so you should be able to remember it. Ok, ready?
Just Stop It.
Brings back some other memories from my youth. After college I worked in psychiatric hospitals for a few years. It got old pretty fast but I learned quite a bit about people and dealing with them. I got so tired of "I'm Working on it", "I'm going to start", " I want to"... you get the idea. My answer to them? When will you stop working on it, starting it or owning up to it? Just do it. Act like it is already part of your character. Making the decision and taking the action is what needs to happen. Not thinking about it, working on it. Doing it is the only thing that will create change.
We aren't trying to quit, we HAVE quit. At least that's the decision I made.
OK, stepping down off soap box now. Oh, yea, this was way back in the early 70s so Nike doesn't own the phrase Just do it.

Haven't 'met' you before but I can relate to the DDD. The reason I quit is that I'm having back surgery 9/19 to correct disc problems and to fuse three vertebrae. The doctor talked to me about how the healing would be much better and go faster if I weren't smoking.
Before that I hadn't really though too much about stopping but that was my motivation. I miss smoking. I probably always will but the Chantix has really helped me. That and the fact that I am on so many pain pills has probably made my quit easier than others have had it.
Good luck with your back and keep us informed.
