Last few days have been hard, really wanted to smoke

Let me tell you something: one and one carton and one year are the same. There is no such thing as one for a junkie. Your mind is playing games. Go out into that fresher air and enjoy taking it in. Leave the junkie at home. I'm so sorry this is so hard. You know.. have you ever gone into the trees and the mountians and smelled it? i meen, really smelled everything? I have a super sensative nose and cna even smell when animals have jsut given birth, and I bet that your nose is really sensative right now after your quit. Take advantage of it before you train your head not to smell every little thing. Go camping .. and smell! Then close your eyes and listen to nature singing to you. Shhh.. just listen. Smoking would ruin all of that. Don't listen to that voice because it lies. Smoking out in something so beautiful only numbs the senses to the beautiful.

lol Nik i have been battling my junkie thoughts over the past 2 days too. You can do it, you have come this far. You are affirming to your junkie self that you can only relax by having a cigarette. This is NOT true, you can and you will relax outside without the need to smoke. You DONT smoke remember! Change your thought patterns, when it sneeks in, remind yourself that you dont smoke. Do what ever you can to protect your quit Nik. Read your goodbye friend post. Nicotine is NOT your friend. You can do it Nik. Hi Niks, Sorry I missed this post the other day but I think I was feeling the same as you. You can't smoke...everytime I think about smoking I think about us having the same quit date and we can't do that to each other. We need to stay strong and resist temptations! I hope you are having a good weekend. I just try to tell myself that I don't want to have to start that quit meter over. It is looking so nice and we are coming up on 50 days...woohoo big seafood dinner for me! We can do this Niks...even with my nagging hubby who is driving me up a wall. STAY STRONG! Nicks, just don't smoke, you can do this you are stronger than that addiction , you've already come so far. First of all it will taste awful, you will be dizzy and you won't enjoy it at all so don't do it. :gasp: My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 44 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 674 Amount Saved: $176 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 22 Mins: 19 Seconds: 49

Congrats Niks for 50 days you are boarding the cruise ship, you can't smoke N.O.P.E because you're addicted to nicotine one puff and that's it you're going back to a pack a day , the way I see it you have to choose at this point between smoking and wellbeing what is more important, think of all the ugly sides to smoking: smell, addiction, out of breath, coughing, etc etc, come on you've proven you can do this don't waste a whole 50 days of the good fight..... :( My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 49 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 741 Amount Saved: $196 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 12 Mins: 28 Seconds: 31

Aw thank you!! If any newbies come and read this thread. Please dont be alarmed and think oh my god am I still going to be going through this so much later in my quit? All I can say is that it is different, very different. Its a bit like coming out of a relationship, at first the split is so intense it is unbearable you almost want to die, then later it gets a lot more bearable. Until much later you are so busy getting on with your life you just dont think about it at all. It does get better, its just been a very busy time for me socially right now. But after this weekend, it then dies down. Then nothing really apart from my birthday on 15th (which wont make me want to smoke) and then off to N Cyprus - but i will be at nearly 100 days then... If I am still smoke free when I return from N Cyrpus that will be the LONGEST ever ever I have been a non smoker. I will believe that i really can do it for good - forever. You are right though BF I am thinking junkie thoughts, and lately the last few days esp I havent cared about that - I just wanted to have a good time and to stop stressing and thinking about not smoking. Aragh - I went away this weekend, and I really WANTED to smoke, my boyfriend wouldnt let me. It was stupid as I was camping and we took our mountain bikes and cycled over tenby and along Pembrokshire coast. Smoking wouldnt have helped at all. Came back to the tent at night and cooked food and drank beer... I REALLY WANTED to smoke. I didnt - but only because a) I was scared b) My boyfriend didnt let me Next weekend i am at a festival for 4 days middle England.. no doubt we will drink whatever and I am also going with a load of smoking people... To be honest at the weekend I was just sick and tired of the effort that i have to give to quitting, it seemed simpler just to smoke again. I cant believe that i was thinking that. Today I am glad that i dont have to smoke. I dont want to smoke in the week. I did want to smoke socially recreationally... I dont want to drink all day every day, but I like to drink at weekends - when socialising. Why cant I do the same with tobacco. I feel SO cheated. PS - 50 days today!! Wahoo!
