I'm a little sore today ... and lovin' it! I'll be hitting the gym again tomorrow night. I'm so glad I am not smoking anymore ... because now I can give it my all. When I was smoking, I lost 30 pounds in 3 months. I don't need to loose 30 pounds ... but still ... imagine what I can do NOT SMOKING! This feels great! Alexa, do you have a trainer and/or a nutritionist working with you on your work out or weight loss program? The reason I ask is because if you only have 800 calories a day, while yes you will loose weight, you will loose not only fat, but lean muscle mass as well ... which is not really a healthy thing. Most programs will have you eat a minimum of 1200 a day. Reason being you don't want to eat so little that your metabolism slows down and also you want to consume enough protein to heal your muscles from the weight/resistance training. ... just some food for thought ... take what you like and leave the rest My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/12/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 13 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 411 Amount Saved: $52 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 3 Mins: 42 Seconds: 59

Just got this in my email box: There are many reasons to quit smoking; here are just a few health benefits: 2 weeks after quitting, walking and aerobic exercise becomes easier 1 month after quitting, your lung capacity increases up to 30% 1 year after quitting, your risk of developing coronary heart disease reduces by 50% ---- I was so tired by the end of today ... but I managed to drag my bum to the gym. I didn't have the best work out tonight ... but at least I did something. Earlier today the kids and I went to "Pump It up". That did me in I think ... I started back to the gym yesterday and it feels great. I use to go to the gym all the time as a smoker. Boy is it different working out and being able to breath at the same time! I do a 5 minute warm up. Then I do approx. 30 minutes of resistance exercise, working on 3 machines at a time, 3 reps each machine alternating, no break in between machines. Then I switch to 3 different machines. Then I do cardio for approx. 20 minutes. I plan on doing a lot of swimming & bike riding this summer with the kids. Are you exercising? What does your work out consist of? What are your goals? How is it working for you? Is there any particular machine or exercise or activity that you really enjoy that helps to keep you fit? 5k after your first 6 months? That's awesome! My oldest son loves to run as well. I know he'd be thrilled if I ran with him. Hopefully soon I'll be able to surprise him and actually be able to keep up with him ... LOL! Ok ... I gotcha!!! That is to be expected right now and you are so ahead of the game by knowing that you need to be gentle with yourself right now. I think you are doing so awesome. After you get past these next couple of weeks ... things will fall back into place for you Mama. Just keep on doing what you are doing and stay positive. Remember there is light at the end of the tunnel.
