HI!! I am new here and I want to quit smoking more than anything!

This is soooooooooooooo hard........!!! I am so trired and haven't slept much. I would like to try a patch to help but I am afraid of the side effects.........has anyone used the patch before?? If so, was there side effects like heart papitations and such as the box says can happen??

Thank you for all your advice about the patch......I had a slip up today

and need to do something to help me through the DRUG withdrawals of this nasty habit. My Dr told me to use the patch and to get 21 MG. I have them but am scared of the side effects I read on the box... I know it sounds silly but I need to put one on first thing in the AM. I need whatever help I can get right now. I agree......cold turkey is not an option for me.....I would need to be in a locked room....and just deal with it, and thats not going to happen as no such place exists. I am hoping that the patch will help me......will post and update and probably cling to this site with fear.......as I await the side effects I am scare of experiencing. Once I get through the first day with it or maybe 2 days, I will feel more confident.......

I do have a question about the patch.....How does it work?? Do you smoke while using it.......how does it let you down easy?? I am trying to understand how the patch program works.....will it make me not feel like smoking?? Someone Please answer my question as time is running out from today.............

Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experience with the patch!! I agree........the fear of smoking and effects are far more scary than temporary side effects to help me be healthy and live a healthier lifestyle.....

I am gonna be here tomarrowm, as I had a few slip ups this morning and am concerned a bout putting the patch on today, but first thing in the morning, it is going on! I am gonna be hugging this site with all my might.........for all the help and support and anxiety I am sure I will be feeling with the patch on. So........Stay tunned amd PLEASE be here to help me through the scariest part of my quit. I know after a few days I will be ok.....but the first few days I am gonna be looking for the bad stuff from the patch. Please bear with me.......this is the biggest step I am taking in my life to get control of my addiction!

Thank you so much Free!! I appreciate your support!!! I am gonna take you up on leaning on you all tomarrow once I slap that patch on my arm!! I feel more confident now knowing I have some support from someone who has used the patch.....I am excited now to try this out!! Thank you again Free.......we will be in touch in the morning!

G'mornin everyone!!! I have the patch on and am doing ok........it feels kinda warm on my arm and my cravings are really starting to kick in.....the urge......I am fighting it all.......and I haven't slipped up !! Free........Is that normal for my arm to feel funny under that patch??? I have it on my right arm........does it matter what arm?? Feeling kinda scatred y'all.............HELP !!!

Thank you for the info Free.....I have the patch on my right arm......kinda a little above the middle of my arm.........is that ok??? I am using Equate Brand that is equivelent to Nicoderm CQ 21 MGS as the Dr prescribed........

I keep smelling ashtray smells and my mouth keeps tasting like an ashtray tastes....NOT that I have ever tasted one.........is that normal???

Other than that, I am feeling waves of wanting to smoke.........Mentally........and am chewing gum....laying down and squeezing playdoh and staying close to my computer to keep talking to you .........Man this is tough....

Free.............Your a lifesaver.....Thank you for being here for me. This is only my first day and I am smelling this ashtray smell.........did you have that happen to you this soon?? I am staying strong the best I know how....I am having some pretty rough moments...i keep deep breathing......

Thank you Free......!! I appreciate all your help........I realize you are not a practitioner.......but personal experience is all I am needing. You have put my fears at ease and I took a nap this afternoon. Still, smoke free....!!! I am less fearful of side effects now......more focused on getting through the process and being sucessful!! Free........You have helped me more than you will know.......and thank you to all the other members that have contributed to help me through my first quit day! I have the rest of the evening to finish as a new non smoker!!

HI!! I am new here and I want to quit smoking more than anything!

Well........I have made it through another day...going through a rough patch at the moment.....really wanting to smoke....I am deep breathing and chewing on mints and squeezing play doh. I had one of my precious dogs lost over night and found her this morning. She is a blue healer and her name is Casey Lee......she had got herself under my deck, and was so far, I had all I could do to squeeze in to get her out. Her eye is so swollen, it is stuck open. I have tried to call the vet and the emergency animal hospital and no one is available to look at her. Please keep her in your prayers....I am not sure what happened to her eye but it is very stressful...........and really making think I need a cigarette....but I keep reminding myself....smoking is not going to help my dog...and it may help me for a second but not enough feeling good .....to lose all I have gained in the past two days!! So, I am struggling right now and trying to get through........
