The First Day of a New Life

10 years ago 0 26 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Here it is, that scary day that all smokers who have thought of quitting must face if they are going to follow through on that desire to be non-smokers for the rest of their lives.  Thoughts race through your mind that you won't be taking a 10 minute break from your desk for a smoke downstairs twice a day and you will miss getting away from your desk.  Then the thought that you can't drive long distances because you really need to have a cigarette to help pass the time.

Here is my first day.  I'm nervous as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs but I will do it.  I want to do it.  I know that if I want to live a life where I can play with my grandchildren without wheezing, I need to do it.  I want to enjoy my retirement which is scheduled for next year.  I don't want to be on an oxygen tank like my dad was at the end of my life.

I want to stop smoking .... I will stop smoking and the today is the first day of my non-smoking life.
