Welcome Allan!  4 days smoke free is awesome.  You're more than half way through the first week.  One day at a time!  Never look any further ahead than that.  Sounds like you're prepared for this.  Good for you.  Post often, it really helps with the quitting journey.

All the best to you,
Jan

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR QUIT.....4 days is a great deal...hell week is one of the worst.  It has been over a month for me, however it seems like yesterday, time flies when you are having fun.  Again congratulations.

Congrats on such a great start, Allan!  Smoking while driving was one of my biggest hurdles.......As I worked up to my quit date, I would put the smokes in the trunk....so I would go through the extra steps/decisions before getting my fix.  Now it is, pleasantly, a distant memory.

You can do this....you may need to look for other ways now to put little burn marks in your clothes, since you won't be dropping ashes while driving

Keep the Quit,

Dave

4 days may as well be 4 years, with how difficult it is to stop smoking!  You're far enough in to know you're committed and have already begun to learn how you'll cope with the unexpected.  Just keep your guard up and never forget why you want to be smoke free.  If you want to stop more than you want to smoke you will succeed.

Oh well done Allan! 4 days to anyone who has ever been a smoker is a great achievement, and I am so pleased you sound so positive too.

I like the straw idea, I sometimes used to 'smoke' a biro or a pencil, just for the physical action of pretending to take a draw, goodness knows what it looked like, but it looked better than a cigarette!

Keep it up Allan you sound so determined- and it is so do-able believe me.

Hello Allan,

I am happy to hear that you are doing so well! What other coping mechanisms have you been using that have worked for you so far?

Hang in there, before you know it Hell week will be over!
