Determined,

You will probably find the anticipation worse than the actual quitting!  It's normal to feel pretty anxious as well as excited.

Absolutely, you can do it.

Hi determined!

Welcome to the group! You have come to the right place.  Congratulations on setting your quit date!  You still have lots of time to prepare.  Be sure to work your way through the program and set up a rewards system.  Also post and read a lot in the forums.  What coping mechanisms do you plan on using?

Determined, welcome to the SSC and congratulations on your decision to quit smoking!  Go through "my program" so you have a plan in place!  Set up a reward system to celebrate each time you say N.O.P.E. (not one puff ever), each smoke free day, and each smoke free week!  Read, read, and read some more, especially about topics affecting your quit.  There is a wealth of knowledge here, so use the search feature to look up how SSC members dealt with quitting.  Post as often as you need, if only to rant and rave!  Somebody is always close by!  We're all rooting for your success!

You are in luck, Determined!  Henny Penny was the first one to reply to your post.  That makes you the 2010 winner of the stop smoking sweepstakes.  Last year, she was the first to respond to my first post....and I am nicotine free for nearly a year!!!

You have made a super decision.  Stay DETERMINED and focused on your mission.  It is the most empowering decision you can make....to free yourself of the addiction!

Keep the Quit,

Dave
