Smokiejoe,

Thanks for keeping us posted. Keep fighting though this. You're a strong person and it sounds like you are in good hands. Stay positive and focus on all of the great things life has to offer.

Thanks for sharing your story to help smokers get motivated to quit.

but not really really.  Smokiejoe had his third Chemo last week, he is having a difficult  time.  He is scared and a little frustrated with his doctors.  I told him to tell the doctor how he feels, and let them deal with it.  He is a stage three, and they tell us three years ago they would not have treated him.  He has nodes under his sternum and these are a cause for concern.  Looks like after surgery he may have to have radiation.
I know this is a downer and I don't mean it to be, but people don't want to hear about this because it scares the living daylights out of them.
But, if we can get one person to quit, hopefully not turn too many people off that's great.
I really needed to vent, because I am scared too.  I would like him to be here for a longer period of time.
Sorry for the venting.
THANKS

Hi SmokieJoe-

Positive thinking seems to be key in so many facets of life.

Never exactly got the hang of it but never too late to try.... right?

I just got Allen Carr's book myself so I'll be reading it along with you.
Everyone talks about what a help it is.
Every little bit helps, right?

Hope all is well for you.  I'm rooting for you!

Hi everyone,
I see if I can find Allen Carr's  book  the more help the better.
Smokiejoe has his biopsy yesterday, won't have results for a few days.
"The Secret" says see yourself as a none smoker, I've know about positive thinking for many years, I know it works.
But, being human we start to buy into all the negatives in our world.
Some one said, I don't know who "If one tenth of the square-root of people believe life, or the economy and such believe it,
in time things will get better."  Since all of us believe we can quit together we send out that energy to each other.
Keep on keeping on!
Thanks for all your encouragement and support.
Have a wonderful day.

The book Sue is referring to is "Allen Carr's Easy Way To Quit Smoking"  there is a free e book download..

The day I started Chantix  my mother in law was diagnosed with lung cancer... 5 spots..  she has 5 kids.. so each (and their spouse) took a "spot" and visualized it gone,  My friends here sent prayers and warm wishes...

We just received the news ... she is remission..   (the Dr thought somthing was wrong with her bone marrow now.... ) we got the news today.. the bone marrow is fne.. and the cancer is in remession...   She neve got really sick from the chemo, she lost her hair, but she ate and kept cheerful and.... we are all so happy and Thakful...

Sending you warmest wishes for a geat outcome and the Strength to fight   may all be well for you both.

Shutterbug, I remember you both -

I replied to your hubby, but wanted to tell you - keep the faith.  If you need it, I haven't read it, but they talk about a book by Alan Carr - worth a look from what I have heard.

Stay strong, my thoughts are with you both.

shutterbug,

I'm sorry to hear about your husband. However, it sounds like you are both strong people, and you will be able to fight this! Like Karren said, it's great that you have each other, for support and encouragement, and that you two can go through this together. We are here for support as well, so stay close, and keep us posted on how you are doing.

Shutterbug, as you said yourself you are doing this now for his life, for your life too and there can be no better incentive than that.
Smokiejoe has had the news we all dread but with the two of you fighting its strength in numbers.
My husband and I quit around the same time, and boy has it helped- someone there who knows exactly how it feels and can be empathetic.
There is no greater quit reward than life-focus on that and get on that journey together.
And Shutter, please make use of this site and its health advisors and members, they are an invaluable source of information, and there will always be someone who knows how you're feeling-theres lots of our succesful members who have used Chantix/Champix.
Good Luck Shutterbug.
